I don't know but I would hope and expect the answer would be NO

Linfield vs. Menlo in the future would depend on the contract they played under this year. Most contracts call for a home and home series.

One would need to assume that D3 teams would rathernplay within D3, and Menlo would rather play NAIA teams. Although Menlo was a bus ride for most schools, vs flying north of south.

Obviously the contract wool determine this but it could be null and void since Menli left the d3 and coference on short notice

Is WC11 at the game today?

M/cat, it has been my experience that D3 teams do not normally cancel contracts. If it was so easy to cancel, I am sure that Linfield  and several other teams would have rather played someone else this year, instead of Menlo.
Usually on a home and home series, the home team pays for a part of the traveling team's expenses, in order to spread the costs of travel out over 2 years
to ease budget demands. We will just need to wait and see.

WC11 reported for duty. Only one on the field with no glasses, hat, or shade.

Puget Sound did. They played Pacific twice instead of playing Menlo.

Leaving the conference would be grounds for getting out of the contract. It was the fact that Menlo did so so late in the offseason, I'm sure, that prevented others from dropping them.

And the fact that we (Linfield) have not been able to find a lot of options for other games.  This was going to be the first all D3 schedule for us until Menlo switched.  I think if there had been another D3 option that made financial sense they would have dumped Menlo.

Eyewitness report from LaVerne:

Cats came out looking pretty sharp in the first half, drove down easily on their first possession and put it in the endzone.  Defense played really well all game, they only gave up a few real gainers and no sustained drives.  The only pts for LaVerne were from a FG that followed an INT (ball that never should have been thrown) deep in Cat territory (D held LaVerne but couldn't block the FG attempt).  The offense was not impressive at all in the second half.  Lot of sputtering, La Verne got too much pressure on the QB and we never really got anything going.  The other problem today was penalties that killed drives or ruined field position (several that took away first down gainers).  I think a win is a win and it had to be hard playing with small roster in that heat but todays effort will not be good enough against Willamette--busy week of improving needed.

One final note:  we have had 2 unimpressive 2nd half--unsure if this is player fatigue, poor adjustments at halftime or what but this unlike the Cat Teams of recent years that have adjusted well at the half. I'm hoping we up our game a lot with a full roster at home.  Any other thoughts ?

Just got back home from the La Verne /Linfield game where the temp from my car was 105 degrees.  It was a hot one  :P.  My take was the game was over at the coin toss.  Cat's looked like a team who knew who they were playing next week.  I think we got out of there without too many nicks.  Lot of guys played as only  a combined 9 points where scored in the second half.  Looked like a couple of new guys got some staring work on the "o-line".  Doubt the film on this one will help our buddies down the road.  Next week should be fun.

At risk of seeming ignorant; is the rule that last game played is what the next opponent sees and(officially by rule) nothing else...?
