NWC pick of the week

Here are both Willamette's and WOU's game previews.

I think that Willamette is going to have a tough time matching WOU physical play....especially with WOU's offensive line.  I think that WOU might have the edge in this game.  I suspect that the Wolves are going to try to pound away at Willamette with the run game and use the play action passing game to try to get the big hitters.

WU has some good skills guys back but I think WOU will be a much improved team this year.

I want Willamette to win this game but my pick is Bearcats-21 and Wolves-24

WC11:
I think the guy in the Willamette preview may be one of the mystery WU posters. Since he is one of their key LBs, I agree...WOU will run right at him and without his Nevada cru, the Bearcats will have a hard time stopping an improved WOU offense. However, the Wolves had a hard time stopping the fly last year and should have a hard time again this year. It will be close. I will also go with WOU, 30-28. The following week, the WOU runs into a tough CAT defense and struggles, losing 48-13 at home.  Go CATS!

Regarding tomorrow night's game......like WC11, I expect WOU to pound away at Willamette's inexperienced and undersized defense...WOU in inexperienced at QB and why trust the pass if you can go downhill all night and move the chains.

But on the otherside, WOU gets to defend the fly and the Wolves aren't exactly the most disciplined team around.

I'll pick Western by about TD.   Should be fun, no matter what.

fattie:
wow, could you make your post a little longer!

nice to see someone that wants to mix it up, but now that you have established yourself as a formitable foe, lets get to it.

i assume the fattie handle is more a discription of what you smoke than what you look like.

good luck to all

GHC,

Good call on the lap dog thing. I adopted a lab mix a few months ago from a place in Salem. I don't know his full history. But I'm starting to wonder if maybe he was raised by a crazy Willamette fan and uses the internet during the day while I'm at work. He does chase 'Cats around the neighborhood any time he gets a chance. Not sure what to say guys...I apologize if in fact my lab is 'Fattie'.

Actually I think he's just a hard-core Linfield hater. He backs me up because I really the only non-Linfield guy posting right now. Hopefully that'll change in the next few weeks.

...I'd like to hope that the answer to you question lies within my moral justification.

What the..?

I won't check in much over the weekend - heading out of town. I'm going to predict the Wolves win as well. But remember that is what we all thought last year.

Pat, I like the new look of the front page.

I'll take a win over WU any way, but if it's like 3 or four points, that's a disappointment.

We're supposedly on the run of two or three good recruiting classes (never mind that many have left), and in this year's class a few freshmen will play; and our PSU transfer RB from Scappoose is supposed to be the real deal. I've heard a few really good reports on him.

The thing that got me last year was how much quicker and faster Willamette was than WOU. Hopefully that's not the case this year. Also, I think it's tougher to run the fly on natural grass than field turf.

WOU 30, WU 17

Honus Rides Again

Honus returns!!!   >:(  If you don't remember, you ain't legit on this board.  The longtimers can fill you in.  Let's see, my stars and karma would be........?

So predictions........UPS bruises, bloodies, and bangs all the chumps this season.  May the blood act as a lubricant, for your sake.  That's right, I'm talking to you Linefield.  (Hey, remember linefieldsucks @ hotmail.com?)  A bunch of guys born in 1980's trying to represent a streak more than twice their age.  That's like me trying to claim all the hot chicks who partied at my house prior to me buying it, in addition to the 1&1/2 that have during my tenure.  I hear the girls from the 1950's were smoking hot!  At best, you personally contributed a few years to the proverbial "streak."  Get over it.  Just claim the streaks on your boxers.

Also talking to you, Whitworth.  Why don't you just defect to Canada already?  Or you could merge with UDub and compete in an 8 man league in Alaska.  Your choice.  Williamette?  Condolences, Dan Hawkins is gone.  Your run was short and you guys are too late.  Tough choice:  play football at Willamette or tug on a cheese grater.  L&C?  Res ipsa loquitor, my hippie Portland friends.  Your name speaks for itself.  Buy a clue, act on it, and can the program.  More time to make bracelets out of hemp.  Remember when those were cool?  Me neither.

I got a fever, and the only cure is more Logger football.  Sorry to spoil the suspense, it's UPS and Mount for the title.  Honestly, the Loggers have great talent this year.  I've been very impressed.  They will probably be the most physical team in the Northwest.

(Is he the same guy?  Yes.  Is he stupid?  Well, he's so right it's stupid.)

How many Linfield fans are going to the WOU game on Saturday? Just curious ... it will be more interesting than OSU-PSU.

woufan....I'll be there. Can't wait to see both teams and how they look. But I'm not sure it will be more interesting than the OSU/PSU game ;D. I'd love to check out the new stadium renovation and I think OSU is a little nervous with a few starters out. My prediction:

Willamette 28
WOU 24

OSU 35
PSU 21

...is the game at 1:30pm or 7:00pm ??? It's listed as 1:30pm on the NWC Website and other sources. Which is correct?

Honus...great post, made me laugh...but your loggers are still going to get pounded all year long.  The only title they're playing for will be the SCIAC North when they beat all those creampuffs down there...it should be a fun season though!!

woufan

Bluenote, looks like a 7 p.m. start ... very odd, we hardly ever play at night:

WOU,

I don't know if you guy's vs. WU is gonna be more interesting than OSU-PSU.

If you remember the year OSU won the Fiesta Bowl, they beat Eastern Washington 21-19.  They're toughest game of the year other than UW.  Don't count out the Viking's.  I hope OSU wins, and they should, but ya never know.

I think the Bearcat's are gonna eat your guy's lunch like they did last year.  You guy's have some better athletes than WU but,  are you guy's gonna be able to defend the fly?  I don't think so.

WOU-24

Yes Shane, we will not only defend the "Fly" we will swat it into submission.

Mark my words, Willamette is in now way winning this one tonight. Even a gimmick offense won't let them off the hook.
