Now for the spirit of conversation - IF (as much as I hate IFs) Linfield gets beat by PLU ... can PLU secure and Autobid (assuming they beat Pacific & LC)? In the case that there is a 3 way tie what is the NWC's solution?

Could be an interesting shuffle ...

K4 - In order to create that three-way tie, PLU would have to lose to Willamette.  I like the way you think. :) You have to do a little bit of digging the NWC rule book in order to find the tiebreaker rules, and they were just changed last summer.  Here's how it breaks down:

The Scenario:
PLU: 8-1, 5-1 NWC (loss to Willamette)
Willamette: 8-2, 5-1 NWC (loss to Linfield)
Linfield: 7-2, 5-1 NWC (loss to PLU)

The Tiebreakers:
1.) If three-way tie - head-to-head among three (n/a)
2.) If three-way tie without 2-0 record – record vs. 4th place team (n/a)
3.) If still three-way tie – overall record (PLU WINS)
4.) If still three-way tie – the NWC team with longest time since participating in
the postseason will receive NCAA bid (PLU WINS)

K4  you need to chill.  We will take care of this in a couple of days, in fact, you can just Phone it In.  Cats by 24.all day long.  And that could be at the half !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info and entertaining the idea (+K) … I was sure that the Rose Bowl rule only came into play in the SCIAC so that was helpful. As far as the possibility of it happening here ... NEVER SAY NEVER

07' we had lost to Redlands in the season finale and were sitting at 5-4 in the drivers seat to go to the playoffs by way of a 3-way tie and the Rose Bowl Rule (with a chance to face UWW and our former QB from the previous year). We ASSUMED Oxy would kill Whittier and therefore ASSUMED we had just made the first ever CLU - NCAA playoff appearance ... Then OXY did the unthinkable and lost to none other than Whittier later that night in OT, who didn't belong on the same field as OXY.

In the end we didn't deserve to be in the playoffs that year and our record reflected it - but like I said weirder things have happened than a 5-0 team beating Linfield.

No Offense intended GHC ... Just speculating ... I'm trying to decide what looks better, a team we lost to going undefeated or the team we beat finishing out without another loss ... either way best of luck in the matchup (I would put my doe on Linfield without thinking twice).

Hopefully your "Phone it in" request gets put through this time around ... I remember a similar call you made a few months ago down to SoCal that no one picked up ...  ;D ;D ;D

Let's look at it a little bit differently K4---which team would your prefer to rematch in the playoffs (assuming you guys take care of SCIAC business)?  The team that beat you (would likely take place at PLU again) or the team that has improved a lot since you beat them (likely a 'home' game for you guys at an approved site). :)

My man K4

The only missed pick up was when the Linfield player came out of the pile on the onside kick with the ball, but CLU got the call !!  This statement is only meant as a snappy come back.

Anyone that knows me knows the way I feel about bad calls.

A bad call never hurts you if you are up by 21  ( or as I tell my baseball players by 10)

Bam !!  Thats all I got

Here's something to take your mind off bad calls and the premature playoffs.

My take on the three teams in this discussion, having seen all three play is Linfield is the strongest, then Cal LU, then PLU. Now this is based on seeing each once, one common oppenent of PLU and Linfield, and looking at the other results. PLU is good, but needed a last second FG to beat UPS, beat a weak Hamline team by a TD, beat a so-so Menlo team on the strength of 2 big plays (statistically a deat heat), beat a Whitworth team that is having a down year. To me the win over CLU is a big surprise as the Kingsmen were bigger and quicker. A road trip and let down after a huge emotional win? CLU has won every other game, although they barely held on against a good  Redlands squad. The Cats have had one bad half this year, manhandling everyone (including a very good Willamette team) and even CLU for a half.

D O.C.

All's I want is the rematch back down in T.O.

BTW, I have a new RINGER tone on my phone, K4.       ;D

That's a good question. We have to finish the job before any of this matters - but I say hey as long as we are in playoffs ... lets go beat whoever we have to in order to get to the next round!

Unfortunetely it is not a possibility. We won't play a home game no matter what the outcome, so as far as I see it lets just get to the playoffs and leave the rest to the NCAA to figure out, they always do a good job with us "far west"erners ...   ::)

Just giving you a hard time ... Not gonna lie I saw what I saw, but hey when the call came CLU's way I wasn't gonna argue ...

I'm guessing Dens was referring to a game in T.O. as at Moorpark College or Oaks Christian.  I think you guys may swing that if you win out and are playing against Linfield (seeing as Daniel Mosier CLU won the head to head matchup).

Moorpark College would be ideal ... I thought it had to be at a school/site that is within the team's conference. We seem to do well at Oxy and Redlands lately so either one would be fine  ;D

I'm not sure--Oxy would be fine with me....much closer than T.O., Moorepark, Redlands, etc....

In most of the other sports there is a bid that needs to be completed. Maybe Pat or someone that has been around for a long time can advise as to what the process is for football playoffs. Especially if someone's field does not meet minimum NCAA standards. I know the NCAA has their fingers in the money pool.

A few years back Cal Lu hosted a first round baseball playoff (2 teams) series
at Moorpark College because their field did not qualify.
