Get some respect for the West Coast, I laughed when I saw the SUNY-Maritime/Alfred score, thinking to myself "they should be having competitive teams in the playoffs, what happened?

What happened, according to Pat and Keith was that "according to our Kickoff rankings, the best team they've played was Merchant Marine, ranked No. 147."

And SOS played against PLU? Ummmm, what?

Maritime and PLU were not competing for the same bid. Maritime was in Pool B, a system which worked alright for PLU in 1999.

Pat Coleman,

You used to show the ranking of conferences in the playoffs for several years, up-to-date.    I can not find it anymore.

Not on the front page anymore, but it lives on in the FAQ.

As the Linfield Wildcats football team travels to Minnesota, the players, coaches, and support staff have to ask themselves one important question......pat down or x-ray screen?  ;)
or ogled or groped?  ;D

Congrats to Linfield yesterday on the win but the fact still remains that the game should have been played in Southern California yesterday.

I'm not saying Cal Lu would have won but not having to travel makes a huge difference in many ways. The last time a SCIAC team (Oxy) got a home playoff game they won two playoff games before running into the Butcher and that great Linfield team of 2004.

Mt. Clef would have been a fine location yesterday, regardless of the NCAA's stupid rules on hosting requirements. The SCIAC got screwed again and it just sucks for our conference to make any name for itself when it routinely gets no respect.

Good luck to Linfield against St. Thomas next week.

Cal Lu has not hosted football because this year Linfield has a better field/stadium/facilities. Next year after Cal Lu has their new place for football, you will have what the NCAA requires for football. Add lights to your baseball field and you can host baseball also.

Since the NCAA makes the rules you either abide by them or lose out. In this case a home field game. Linfield has invested in their athletic venues to host home games in multiple sports. Not all DIII schools make that investment.

I agree the NCAA has crazy, illogical rules. BUT he owns the rule book makes the rules. Complaining won't change nothing.
This... is a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball.  "There are three types of baseball players: those who make things happen, those who watch it happen, and those who wonder what happened."

Congrats Wildcats.  Great game.  Lamson's hard running was impressive.  Hedin was lights out.  His second effort made the difference.  I thought the offensive tackle opposite did a good job without much help most of the game, but the Wildcat secondary caused some coverage sacks.  Look for the Tommies to either double team him or work on their inside game to get him out of the play.   Hedin was like a spider with his long reach and range.

Crash,

I know the stupid rules and argument. I don't need them to be repeated. The Linfield win yesterday just adds to the SCIAC having to travel again in the future. The SCIAC's playoff record continues to suffer because of crap seeding and logistic issues due to their location.

It's damn near impossible for the SCIAC to get a home playoff game and Cal Lu had an identical record as Linfield and beat them head to head this season. No way shape of form should Linfield have hosted yesterday, regardless of the rules. Mt. Clef should have been given some assistance logistically or another site suitable to host should have been secured.

Re:  playoff teams.  Like most compromises, the result is an unfair result for some.  On the other hand, the top 16 teams got into the playoffs.  Of the top 25 teams on the Week 11 D3football top 25, Pacific Lutheran (17), Hardin-Simmons (19), Rowan (22), and Wabash (25) were left out.  Salisbury (27), Washington and Lee (31), DePauw (34) took their places along with eight others.    Whether any of the top 32 who got left out had a realistic chance of going all the way can be debated.  Where do you draw the line between the presumed best teams and the need for inclusion?

Asking this in all seriousness:  Why do many SCIAC fans think that NCAA does not want games played in SoCal--I've read several times now that the NCAA is biased against the SCIAC due to their location....I just don't see why they would prefer to have games in Oregon vs. L.A.  I would venture that should the SCIAC host and win and another team have to be shipped there it would be cheaper than flying a team to the pacific northwest as I'm guessing there are more options for flying to L.A.  so besides "the rules" and SCIAC fans feelings that they are intentionally being screwed does anybody have any factual basis for this complaint?
Go Cats!

Great win Cats!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care of a few untimely penalties, and it's off to the races!!!!
Would somebody PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE tell the camera crew at the Catdome to pan out a little further so we can see the whole field of play!

Go Cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just figured that was as far back as they could get.  Also, I hate the ground view for live plays.  Not complaining, just personal opinion, others may like it.  Great game Cats, the ROAD gets drastically tougher from here on out.  Good Luck

Lever Street

Cats certainly caught a break by hosting CalLu.  Just goes to show that every team needs to get their facilities in order.  Fortunately, Linfield is able to host a big event like this "at the Max".

I saw the game in person on Saturday.  Cat O and D both look really good.  Cal Lu was a tough opponent to be sure.  The Cal Lu receiver was unstoppable, accounting for most of their offense.

St Thomas as a huge running back.  I remember him well from the playoff game at CatDome last year.  He was  a load.

Question for the board............What is stronger....the CAT O or the CAT D?
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

That is an interesting question---how do you really compare those two?  I'd go with the offense but just by a little....I think our passing game could probably beat our DBs....
Go Cats!
