Thank you Cats for another great season.  You have upheld the Linfield tradition of one of the finest football programs in the Nation.

D O.C.

Aaron Williams and Simon Lamson I want to say thanks for all your hard work.

I know the magnitude of your frustration is much greater than mine when I show up at the beach without a surfboard and the waves are great.   8-)

Nice game today Cats!
Down early, you never gave up. Kept clawing all the way back to send it
into overtime. The Tux's were on the edge of our seats most of the game.
Thanks for another wonderful year!

My Top Hat comes off to the Tommies on a Big win today, do us proud and win it all in Salem.
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Las Vegas Wildcards

Tremendous game today, although the outcome was disappointing. Good luck to St. Thomas, it would be great to see a different team reach the Stagg Bowl. In a sense, this game resembled the Auburn-Bama and Nevada-Boise State games for the first quarter and a half. The Cats were in deep trouble until St. Thomas made the strange decision to pass on 4th and one in Linfield territory, already ahead 10-0.

After Linfield had that fantastic drive to send the game into overtime, it seemed the Cats would be able to finish the job and host Bethel next week. It just wasn't meant to be.

Unfortunately, the live streaming of this exciting game was a major letdown, despite the fine commentary by the students. They fixed the freezing and camera icon problem, only to have no audio during much of the fourth quarter. Then, the first round of overtime was missed, due to more technical problems. Using the team camera in the lower quality record mode was a disaster. I'm not blaming the students, but someone in the broadcasting department needed to step up and procure one camera and one operator. These are the playoffs, and the fans of both Linfield and St. Thomas who wanted to enjoy this broadcast deserved better.

Although Linfield came up short, Coach Smith, the assistant coaches, and all the players should be proud of another great season. In addition to another NWC crown, the Cats extended The Streak to 55. No team in college or pro football is close to that record. Also, it's the best in college and pro basketball, and not even baseball's New York Yankees have that many consecutive winning seasons.

Feed sucked. Announcers sucked. You are polite, Steel Curtain, to say they did a good job, but I was annoyed with the screwing up of the names and numbers, sometimes even which team!  The outcome sucked, too, but the Wildcats never suck!

Congrats to the Tommies. You are a fine team and played an outstanding game.

It has been one heck of a season and thank you, Wildcats, for the ride. You are all a part of The Streak, and we appreciate the job done by the coaches, team and staff.

Makes me feel good to be where we were -- even across the field and high above a corner of the end zone, at least we were in a spot that had a quality connection to the Internet and using a better provider, I think, than MN Sports Network.

St. Thomas' press box is old and in need of being replaced. There's no hard-wire internet connection and the wireless is not reliable. We would not try to broadcast from there -- I'm surprised that they can make it work as little as they can, to be honest.

That's why we didn't feel out of place offering an audio-only alternative to the video broadcast.

I gave up on the video early and listened to the rest of the game on your broadcast.  Thanks for a job well done.

Pat:

They probably don't have such a policy, however, one would think that the NCAA might have some regulations about the Press Box accommodations for you guys, similar to the rules they have regarding size, etc. i.e. the Carthage situation in recent years before Carthage replaced/renovated their press box and field to be able to host a playoff game.  Seems to me that would help you guys out, yet also be consistent with policy in trying to provide the best and a minimum of requirements - so as the NCAA says it wants to do and already requires it in some aspects.  What are your thoughts/opinion on this? ???

By those standards, UST's press box definitely qualifies, don't get me wrong. It's just not good enough to handle video streaming. It's tight, but has space for people.

Plenty of time to discuss this later, but does anyone know if Menlo is coming off the 2011 schedule? I thought the Oaks were going D2, and Southern Oregon is trying to move that direction, too. I put together a sample 2011 Linfield schedule, based on the 2010 version:

Cal Lu
LaVerne
at Willamette
Puget Sound
at Pacific
PLU
at Menlo
at Whitworth
Lewis & Clark

Thanks for the follow-up.  Perhaps if/when they replace it, accommodations can be made for video and brocasts.  Theirs sounds like Kalamazoo College's Press Box from the 1930's.  That is so antiquated, I dare say it is probably worse than St. Thomas'.  It has one of those old iron spiral staircases which you can barely fit through as you ascend/descend (I'm surprised it meets the city/county safety code).  However, that will finally (and thankfully i.e. it's about time ;D) be replaced next year as they are renovating the entire stadium/field (including installing the new style synthetic turf) and adjacent athletic complex fields as well.  Hopefully, St. Thomas will replace their press box in the near future also for improvements for everyone that needs to be in there for games.
