Coach Locey is such a "class act" and that is clearly the foundation that has made the Linfield program great...of course let's not forget that Coach Ad was also a "class act" as well.

Downtown, I missed the West vs. South in the semis thing. Did they really say that? I agree the North and East top teams get a cakewalk in their regions. But you're right about Linfield only having to play either SJU or UWW and not both. SJU and UWW are the teams who really get screwed by this (well, and the 'Cats for not getting to play Central).
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Yes , he was on a phone call.. Sounded like coach getting ready to do battle.. He will have  the cats claws sharp to  skin the tigers.

On the road to McMinnville I will be singing that great old buck owens tune,," I 've got a tiger by the tail it plan to see"
Go cats hang another tiger skin on the catdome wall.
Go Cats..

Actually Oxy takes it the worst, instead of a first round home game, they get Linfield on the road, but that's the way these things work.  There was a 3 seed on the road not too long ago.  At least we get 32 teams.

AJ, C'mon. You know I meant out of the top three teams. That's pretty obvious.

Yep...West vs. South

and I'd like to remind all the young bucks who are surprised at any NCAA action about the LEW ALCINDOR RULE. Be glad to explain it to you if no one else does.

Foss,

I don't know that they said it, but I'm looking at the bracket that I printed out...

True, AJ.  But it seems to be only for the benefit of teams like Cortland State.  I guarantee that if you matched up the East vs. West (1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, and so on) the result would be

West 8
East 0

I am pulling for Linfield and UMHB in the semi's. I would be great to have some Texas friends experience McMinnville (for the first time) and the Northwest (for the second time this year).

WOW, not sure what to say. ??? The power is in the west, and it looks like we can beat up on each other to get down to the one who wins the stagg. If I'm in the north, east or south I would feel like I was just given a gift today!IMHO

Pat nice job on the show.

Let the Games begin!    Leave No Doubt!!        GO WILDCATS!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Come on now Linfield nation....let's stop it with the persecution complex about the matchups.    There are many good things about the Oxy matchup.....the Tigers are a familiar opponent.   And the next round, Coe or the Cobbers is a heck of a lot better than what UWW and the Johnnies get to deal with...each other!   And then whatever is left of those two teams once they battle comes west to McMinnville, assuming Linfield wins of course.

I particularly like the answer Jay Locey gave on ESPNews when asked about the matchups....it is out of his control.    So please, no more whining from Linfield nation!

Time for big boy football now. Playoffs are here. Oxy is a good match up in the 1st round. As Todd Beamer put it "Let's Roll"
The great blessing of mankind are within us and within our reach; but we shut our eyes, and like people in the dark, we fall foul upon the very thing we search for, without finding it

Beancounter...for once I've got to agree with you.  Halloween was only a couple of weeks ago and I still think Oxy is wearing their sixth best team in the country costume!  I like the match-up.  If you look at it only as who would you want to face out of the eight teams in the West Region, it's an OK match-up.  It's when you see who the other #1's are playing that it get's frustrating, but it is what it is...

While I don't know that Concordia isn't just as good as SJU (SJU got the win on a miracle pass), I would agree that I would rather have them then SJU or UW-W in the 2nd round.  And...I said it before, if the NCAA would send the undefeated #1 team in the nation in womens DIV. 1 soccer, they didn't lose ANY sleep sending OXY to Linfield.  Unfortunately geography trumps anything else when it comes to dollars...

wildcat11

First things first....Congrats Linfield on their 6th consecutive NWC championship!

The 'Cats really dropped the hammer on Willamette last night at Linfield's  'Catdome South.  I think yesterday's victory over Willamette was even more of a stomping than last year...which is saying something.  'Cats defense was great once again and the Butcher and company were working in fine order.

Playoffs....the only thing I cared about is that Linfield has the chance to play at the 'Catdome thoughout the playoffs.  Oxy....good team with some firepower but I think their are running into a team that is on a mission to put their stamp on Division III.

Let the boys from down south worry about what cannot be undone.

CATDOME!!!!!!!

Wildcat'64

If the Cats are going to repeat aS National Champs again it should truly not matter how high the opponent is ranked. It's obvious there are no "cupcakes" in the West and will simply better prepare the Cats for the final two rounds, if we get that far......As Wildcat 11 pointed out the big advantage is playing in the Catdome in front of our home fans on familiar turf...the House will be packed, the fans will be cheering for the Cats on every play.
Bring 'em on......One Game At A Time and the Cats will LEAVE NO DOUBT!
