Well, looking forward to the Wildcats playing CMS or PP from the SCIAC next year for a "slightly tougher schedule...."   ;)

I think Linfield plays HSU next year for one change. Not sure what else is on the docket. I was thinking that we'd dump Menlo also. Maybe George Fox is added?
River,
At least the Games/Teams Linfield play's are counting games . SOU=0 in DIII  PSU=0 in DIII
Looks to me like the Bearcats are really 0 fer in DIII right now. Ill take 9 good DIII games over 8 any day.
GO WILDCATS!
Great, now all the Wildcats need to do to keep up is to play a 10-game regular season schedule.
Go Bearcats!

Since Linfield plays Menlo this year (on a nine game schedule), you're only playing eight D-III teams too.

Really enjoyed my time up in McMinnville today - nice to finally meet wildcat11 in person!

I read the Andy Collins story as well. Sad story indeed. What gets me is his wife noted in the artical that he was always tired. In great shape but always tired? Get it checked out guys, better safe then sorry.
Hands down one of the best Qb's I've seen play DIII ball right behind Linfields #5 Brett Elliott.
When Andy was in the game they always had a chance to score. I'm glad I had the chance to watch him play those times against Linfield. Thanks for the memories, you will be missed Andy!

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Good of you to show up Tuxguy.  I envy you being in Salem next weekend.

Here are the non-conference records through Sept.23:
    Northwest Conference                                       8 - 12
    American Southwest Conference                         10 -  7
    Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference       10 -  5
    Ohio Athletic Conference                                    7  -  3
    Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference        13 - 10

If the #2 team from our league wants to go to the playoffs, all NWC teams need much better non-conference records.    I am sure the NCAA playoff selection committee notices.

This is a little simplistic because it does not take into consideration the quality of non-conference opponents.   Yet, the NCAA Selection Committee has to make quick decisions.

Sorry George--no way a #2 NWC team gets a pool C spot this year unless that #2 team is Linfield and they lose the conference with one loss.  Here is why (I make the assumption that we don't end up with a big huge tie for the conference title)---If Linfield wins the conference (as many expect) that means the only possible 1 loss team (based on current records) is Lewis and Clark and they have not and will not have played anybody that will be close to a regionally ranked opponent. They won't even get a look (IMO).  Now if a team like Lewis and Clark manged to win the conference and Linfield finished second with 1 loss they might get a look but then they'll look at the cost of flying that team to Texas or Wisconsin in the first round and they'll make the decision they make every year and choose another one loss team within busing distance.  This may be an over-simplified and cynical view of things but this is how it tends to unfold...just ask PLU and Redlands 2010.....
Go Cats!

I just found out today and my heart sank with sadness as I read about Andy Collins former QB at Occy. I remember watching him play against Linfield when my son played for the Wildcats.

Read about it here:  http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_18880165  and   http://articles.latimes.com/2011/aug/04/local/la-me-andy-collins-20110804

Sad story, to be sure. I never saw him play, but if he transferred to Occidental from U of O in the Kellen Clemens era, he had to be a helluva player.

After seeing him two years in a row, I can say Andy Collins was an EXCELLENT quarterback.   He scared us Wildcat fans plenty.   He was very versatile: could pass and run.    He unfortunately had to try and beat two of our greatest teams:  2004 (National champions) and 2005--- The Elliott, Allen, Hazenberg, etc. steamroller teams.

In the 2005 game, he passed for 314 yards, plus he rushed for another 123.    But, he could not do it alone; his team just didn't have the depth and breadth of talent that we had those two years.

That is truly a sad, sad story.   What a shame to see any young person pass so early.

George

My thoughts exactly, George. He was fun to watch. He was an outstanding QB, and it appears he was also an outstanding person. Truly a tragedy.

Even if you can't be there next weekend, D O.C. you can watch the game.   Here's a link:   http://www.willamette.edu/athletics/bsn/webcast/stream/football/index.php    Unless something has changed, that I haven't heard about, it's free to watch games at WU.  So crack open a cold beer and watch!

Olinemom

Hey everybody.,  Congrats on stomping the crap out of your opponent this weekend.  I was at a retreat and I'm sure glad I was.  We got our heads and rears and everything else handed to us  down at Ferrum.  I had a bad feeling but not that bad a feeling.  My 2 poor French majors that play defense must be really tired and they have a humongous test tomorrow.  Oh well, it can't be helped.  Maybe I'll get to see you'all at the real Salem, in VIRGINIA!!!  GO CATS!  WIN WIN  WIN!!!!! :) :) :)
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

....and brownie points to you!

Thanks.  There will be at least a dozen of us on the free WU site Saturday and more if our Hawaii contingent speaks up.

Actually, it's 9-6. The WIAC forced all of its teams to play one "non-conference game" against a fellow WIAC team this fall. So subtract 4-4 since four games were played between WIAC teams.

I've watched the last 2 home Linfield games via the internet...$12 per game. I consider it a contribution to the program.  :)

Well, Bluenote -- just for you, we have a $12 charge for those who like to pay.   Just send me a PM and I'll let you know where to send your money. ;D

Thanks for the +K, D O.C.   Enjoy the game!

Nice complete game by the 'Cats today. Follows the Linfield tradition of underclassmen getting lots of playing time before becoming starters. Daughter still wondering why the 'Cats are playing a bunch of lepers.

That is too funny! What did you tell her? :D
I counted 67 players from Linfield that participated in todays game. :o
Told her that most teams go out of their way to avoid putting Linfield on their schedule. We have to take anyone that says yes.
