All I have to say is the Rats are growing as a team; too bad their season ends next week. Give them credit for hanging with the Cats. You guys may not see it my way, but penalties, especially holding, are usually caused by the opposition moving more quickly and being more determined creating a need for the offender to use hands instead of feet in acheiving their goal. Simply put, Whitworth made our Cats look bad at times today because they were very determined to play above their expectations.

We played well enough to win, and did, but has there been four extra points blocked in any one game prior to today? And ended up as the margin of victory?

Getting way ahead of myself here- assuming that CLU and Redlands win out tonight and next week. Could we be looking at:

Round 1- Cats vs. McMurry at Cat Dome
Round 2- Cats vs. CLU/Redlands winner at Cat Dome
Round 3- Cats vs. St. Thomas at ???
Round 4- Cats vs. UWW in Wisconsin
Stagg- Cats vs. ???

So the Cats are going to get WAY WAY WAY better than they are right now over the next 5 weeks. Good for them!  ;)

Quotei know funny things the $$$$ do to the NCAA and flying

So .... how much did the NCAA make off the USC-Stanford, Alabama-LSU, Florida- Georgia games? And they cannot funnel enough of that to their showcase student-athletes to make the Division III playoffs fair.

NCAA run as poorly as any government agency.

Pat Coleman

Actually, not sure they made a whole lot. The conferences get the money from the networks, not the NCAA.

It would still be nice to know.

Understood Pat, it has been discussed before.
Their percentage cannot be wanting for every 60,000 plus game.
I don't believe basketball revenues are earmarked for only basketball or any one division.

Bearcat Press

Easily Willamette's most complete game of the season on both sides of the ball.  Widing got his touch back, the offensive line only committed one or two penalties, and the d-line just manhandled L&C up front.  The Pios aren't a fluke by any means - the win at PLU last week showed that - but I think today was the first day these Bearcats actually played to their potential.  Hopefully they can finish that well against PLU.

I also feel a heck of a lot better about the loss to Whitworth last week.  The Rats have had a couple of down years, but they'll be dangerous going forward.  Not looking forward to next year's trip to Spokane.

Excellent observation. Four blocked points and the Cats win by four. Could it have been planned that way? ;)

Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Well...ya...it wasn't pretty!  On the initial blush...I couldn't agree more...But...there is more!
Coach made a comment about finishing the season with some tough games, some challenge and some adversity.  This...to be prepared for what's next(playoffs).
Talk about Pios all you want about being a flash in the pan...the Rats are anything but that!
Look at there schedule this season and the margin of loss they suffered...look at their wins, look at what they achieved against our Cats.  BCP is spot on about next year.  Watch out!

I hope...NO WAIT...I fully expect that these last two contests for Linfield are valuable [and not to be wasted] teaching moments.  They won the game and they were able to take that brutal bus trip back home with the knowledge that they...won the game.
It's not going to escape the thought process of any of our guys that they were in real contest with an opponent that can pounce at ANY mistake and ruin your day.

Hopefully yesterday was a 'wake up call' for the Cats.  Lewis & Clark will come to the Catdome with one objective to beat the Cats and earn a trip to the Playoffs while the Cats will stay home if the NCAA does there usual.  All the marbles will be on the table next Saturday.  If the Cats don't play any better than they did yesterday the Pios will be the ones making the playoff run.
If the Cats are to win they need to figure out a way to stop Welch.....stats yesterday shows he ran for over 100 yards and passed for over 300.  The Bearkitties are a very good team as we all know and yet those kind of stats by Welch are very impressive.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

They are. Division III gets 3.18% of the NCAA's budget. (Division II gets 4.37%.)
