Outstanding performance by the Wolverines today.  What a second half you put together. Thanks to the Wildcats team and coaches for another outstanding year. When you leave it all on the field and play your hearts out you can hang your heads high having given your best.

Hey Pat:

All we west-coasters are grateful you lined up the video for Linfield-Wesley. But we've got to wonder...what was with the herky-jerky video? All the other games around the country seemed to arrive at my computer smooth as silk but the Linfield/Wesley game was like they were only transmitting every third frame. Any idea what the difficulty was?

Really, I'm not complaining...'cuz I'm grateful to have had any video at all. Just wondering?????

Yes, I had the same problem with the unstable video in the midwest, forcing me to bail out in the first quarter. Killed the audio, but kept the game up while I watched the James Madison-Eastern Kentucky game on my TV. The non FBS schools in college football understand the concept of settling a national champion on the field of competition. Never thought I'd see the day when the SEC Champion is irrelevant.

Enjoyed the announcers for the short time I had the sound up, but must respectfully disagree with the comment "Linfield emerged in 2004". The Cats actually emerged in the mid 1950s as a top-flight program, and appeared in six national title games prior to 2004. So the streak, and everything which occurred during the NAIA era is intertwined with Linfield, just like the accomplishments of other schools like St. John's, who used to be NAIA as well. It only took a former NAIA school like PLU a short time to win the D3 crown back in 1999. While I feel this is a great website(and vastly superior to the D2 version), I'd like to see more recognition to the achievements of schools with strong NAIA backgrounds.

Didn't hear the clip so I don't know the context, but it sounds like for that announcer you can't "emerge" without winning a D3 national title. East Coast bias? It is often overstated, but could be an example for those who rant about it.

In 2003, for instance, the Cats played SJU to the wire before the Johnnies won big over RPI and Mount in the semis and finals. Not a bad team in 2002 either.

Coach Smith, Wildcat coaches and players,

Another great year!   Of course, yesterday was a shocker, but that's football.   Thank you so much for these wonderful games and memories.    Next year...

Wesley fans,

Congrats on a great comeback.   You played a perfect 2nd half; we, not so.    Good luck the rest of the way.    Beat the purple teams, one by one.

There were Linfield fans this past week who wouldn't respect a team that had never won a national title.

Can't tell you much about the broadcast quality. In the end, there wasn't quite enough bandwidth at Linfield and in a short week because of the holiday, not enough IT department availability to make it better.

I thought the first half was great! After that the bandwidth went down.... :o

Just for fun, whichever LINFIELD fan (s) that did not respect Wesley, just step forward when you eventually read this and simply state, "I didn't".
I don't believe there were any in the whole NWC - or SCIAC for that matter.

That's what I was getting at -- the implication that you had to have a ring in order to get respect. The fact that you were actually talking to a Mount Union person rather than a Wesley fan ... that was something else.

You know I've been wanting to play Wesley for several years now.
Now we have.

twas a great game.I am now just a fan, and can go home on saturday and enjoy my evening no matter who wins or looses(sp),, I choose to go to Wesley because the quality of play is close to what we had at Mount. I was there from 1989-2005. and now that I live on Chincoteague Island , wesley is an easy 2 hour drive. I also go to see Salisbury, even to a practice or two, when I can. After spending 58 years of my life as a player and coach , I still love the game.I help coach the local HS (80 boys in the school) and 23 play fb. I'm just not good at listening to people put down other teams etc,,I have always believed in talking about what you know, your own team. Many teams came to MUC saying we had not played anyone like them,,and they left saying they had never played a team like Mount. Wesley is good as they have shown over the past years, they deserve to be respected

Now as far as your team. They were a CLASS ACT.!!They are well coached, executed well. # 7 TB could be a game breaker. 81 is a talented reciever Qb has a quick arm and release,, 9 and 4 and the others on defense are good players who  all led your team to a respected position,,

Talk them up !!

And now I put the ring card to rest,,maybe we will meet again next year !!!

I'm guessing that WC11 will hook you all up with the good stuff later, but here are a few rough clips from the game via my phone. None are great, but some are better than others. I couldn't shoot HD on the ones I was trying to post live.

Thank you for the very positive input.   There is no point in downgrading other teams.   Wesley was very good.
We had our chance to win, and didn't finish.   Oh well, next year.
