With all due respect and understanding for the scheduling challenge this may cause other NWC schools, the decision to delay the return of football to George Fox to 2014 was in the best interest of the university, and the newly selected coach. As much as I am sure the administration took the impact on scheduling for other schools into consideration, they made the decision that was right for the entire institution.

Further, the decision has nothing to do with what Wildcat11 articulates as "the GFU community isn't THAT serious about football returning to their campus." In fact, the decision was made because the institution is serious about the return of football and wants to do it correctly.

No decision is without consequences, so I say Geo. F. does not even come close to LINFIELD in a game the next 10 years. WILDCATS used to root for L&C took get their bearings, but with the new kids on the block it'll be just a matter of cleats on the neck - like the old days before they quit.

Wildcat11....I cannot reveal my sources.   8-)

Quote from the GFU website article Return of a tradition: Football kicks off in 2014

"Currently, only conference members George Fox and Whitman College of Walla Walla, Wash., do not offer football."

Any thoughts that Whitman will get into the game again with the idea that it might be competitive for the foreseeable future against several equally new football teams in the conference?

Don't know about Whitman, it would be interesting to hear if there has been any rumors about Oregon Tech bringing back football as well. I heard College of Idaho will be having a vote in May regarding the matter, it sounds like there has been growing support for the Coyotes to return to the gridiron. If they get the green light, C of I would initially compete in NAIA, but the long term plan is for the athletic department to move to NCAA D3.

"Mississippi State: Sources tell us that Linfield (D-III - OR) quarterbacks coach Brett Elliot has accepted a grad assistant position at Mississippi State. Elliott won the Gagliardi Trophy and a D-III National Championship as a quarterback at Linfield; but had also played QB at Utah for two seasons (where he met and played for Dan Mullen). "

Very happy for Brett.  He's going to do a great job at Miss State.  Going to miss him around the Catdome but excited to watch his progress.

Fantastic work on the video, 11. Had a question for you, where did you shoot the wide shot at 1:45? The background looks like PLU, the shadows look great with the player walking towards the field.
That is good news for Brett, I recall seeing clips of his play last season in the AFL.

I'd be beyond shocked if Whitman ever even considered bringing football back - the campus culture there is a lot closer to Reed than it is to even Lewis & Clark.  And as long as there are budgetary problems with the Oregon University System (i.e. the forseeable future), Oregon Tech won't be coming back.  They're quite happy being an NAIA basketball powerhouse.

From the Small World Department:

Yesterday my wife and I were out with our realtor looking at homes in Sun City, Arizona (yeah, it's come to that :-[). When the owner of one of the homes opened the door I noticed he was wearing a Mt. Union sweatshirt...it was cool yesterday in Phoenix, only about 70 degrees ;D. We got to talking about D3 football and it turned out he's as big a honk for Mt. Union as I am for Linfield. We lamented that we'd never gotten the two teams together.

While touring the home as he remained back by the front door, I noticed one of the bedrooms was painted sort of a purple color. As we approached the front door later to leave, I remarked (to him) that "I don't think I could buy a house that has a bedroom painted Mt. Union purple...but, then, maybe that's really Linfield purple." He grinned for a bit then said, "Well, maybe we can both be happy if we agree that it's not Whitewater purple."

Everyday is a great day to be a Wildcat!!

Great story. Plus k for you prof. I'm not ready for Sun City ......yet! ;D Although at times I wear the wrap around sunglasses many of the residents can be seen wearing as they drive their golf carts to the Safeway.  8-)

In addition to a full SCIAC schedule, Chapman will host Puget Sound and travel to Whitworth this year. I will be going to Whitworth and hope to meet some NW Conference posters at that time.

Have fun...The Pine Bowl is a comfortable place to watch a game.  Myself, I'm looking forward to headed down to CLU and taking a look at their new soccer stadium this fall.
