Yeah, and I don't like how PLU manhandled our softball team this year.   :)

George, I don't really give a rat's about this stuff but this is odd to me:

Quoteeach conference with one vote
Duey Naatz, co-chair Wisconsin-Stout Wisconsin Intercollegiate
Mike Emendorfer Wisconsin-Platteville Wisconsin Intercollegiate

And mount Union has earned the right every year to sit in third chair - which is how they got their right in the first place.

Does anyone think that PLU now has a better shot at making the playoffs now that 3 other potential Pool C teams lost this weekend? That may lay the groundwork for implementing Pat's alternative West Bracket?

They definitely have a better chance and I think they should be the top Pool C team in the West Region. And if they get in, yeah, I'd expect them to play at Linfield.

If that is the case, where would CLU go (assuming they win the SCIAC)?

I think you can make a pretty good argument now for CLU at home round 1 and to McMinnville in round 2 (assuming they both won the first round).  Not sure who would go to CLU round 1 but the two MIAC losses yesterday likely jumped CLU up a few spots in bracket seedings....

You missed the part about "the chairs don't [vote]" in Pat's post.  And I agree with you Dens on Mt. Union.

There is a chance MUC won't be the overall #1 seed this year, but that's not likely. Or if they play UMHB, or some other top team they could get knocked out in a semi or before.

ha--they are (and deserve to be) the #1 seed unless they lose next week against John Carroll--But they (MUC) has been crazy good this year--only allowed 28 points all season including 6 shutouts in a row.  Also scoring some points.....over 50 pts/game if my math is correct....so unless something crazy happens this coming week, they are the team to beat.

....and you may now mathematically and conferencelly congratulate them on their NWC crown.

Congratulations to the Linfield Wildcats for winning another NWC Championship. Go Cats!  :)
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Pat...has the NCAA ever admitted to playing unfair when setting up the playoffs for the West teams?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Probably only tacitly, but they do acknowledge that budget can trump other considerations.

Looks like Heidelberg gave them a pretty good game and John Carroll seems to be pretty decent as well so we'll see. They've laid a lot of goose eggs on people this year....must have a pretty good 3rd and 4th string defensive unit.

I would venture the University of Mount Union would be willing to take on Wesley, University of Mary Hardin Baylor, and LINFIELD  (in that order  ;D ) to take away their next trophy.
How can the NCAA set that up? That's the good question.

The playoffs are often unpredictable, MHB took down Mount at their place back in 2004, before losing to Linfield. If the Wildcats and Raiders do eventually meet, it will be more than a great matchup of strong teams. Since joining the NCAA in the mid 90s, Linfield has never played Mount, and that makes a potential matchup even more compelling. D3 just doesn't have the amount of intersectional regular season games we see at the D1 level.

It would be nice to play someone different in the first round but I'll be happy just to see us get in.  Not holding my breath though after being left out two years ago.  On the plus side if we do get in we have a history of winning the first round against conference opponent since we joined d3, we're 2-0  :P

That would be better, but if we do get in we are probably coming to see you guys.
