Not looking good for public small college athletic departments:

http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/12/oregons_small_college_sports_w.html

Western, Southern and Eastern Oregon and the other public small college athletic departments in Oregon could take a major hit as the Oregon 2013-15 state budget is proposing "The distribution of lottery proceeds to the Oregon University System in support of intercollegiate athletics and scholarships is discontinued,"

According to the article that could cut over $371K of WOU's $4M budget, $290K of EOU's $2.5M athletic budget, and $290K of SOU's $2.6M budget.

Ouch.

So it turns out that when it comes to sports, the governor does believe in the death penalty.

Any idea what the athletic budget at Linfield is?  Or PLU? or any of the NWC schools.

Just Curious.

As a replacement perhaps the affected schools could get Proctor & Gamble as a corporate sponsor.

Don't have the numbers but I believe that Pacific might have the largest football budget in the conference.

(additional note)----strike that.  Looks like Pac has the 2nd highest Total expenses in the NWC right behind Willamette.
