Hey Lindfield, Pull out all the film you can find from the 1930's & 1940's to get ready for the Cobbers. I know your kids have never seen anything like this & probably not your coaches either. Wing T old school smash mouth from the Cobbers :o
So the Cobbers like to run huh? Here is info for you to chew on. Linfield ended the regular seaswon as the #8 rushing Defense, #1 scoring Defense and lead the nation in Turnover margin with +20. They were plus 2 yesterday.
Puget Sound finished the season as the #13 rushing team in the nation with 261.2 ypg. Only had 96 against Linfield
Willamette finshed as the #18 rushing team in the nation with 235.7 ypg. Only 149 against the Cats.
And Linfield has only given up 6 rushing TDs all season.
Bring on the Cobbers.

ONE GAME AT A TIME! LEAVE NO DOUBT!!

Wow those are impressive run D stats for Lindfield. With the quick scoring O you really only need te ball a couple of minutes per game anyway, so I guess everything is stacking up just as Lindfield has planned all season long. Remember,Lindfield is the reigning champions and will be until somebody beats them.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

JUst some advice for the Cat Nation.  Stats against other teams means very little. The Johnnies palyed an undefeated team whose QB had a 75% Comp Pct. He completed 66% yesterday, no picks. Final Score 62 - 3 SJU. That being said, you will probably have a tough time running the ball against the Cobbers. With Elliott at QB - Throw often, throw deep. If you can keep the D off his ass, it could be easier than it looks on paper.

PS. I am rooting for the Cobbers so that the Johnnies get a home game in the finals, but beating the Cats in M' ville AGAIN would also be sweet.

Wildcat "64,

Who knows but what it won't be long now that we can host Kenneth the Inquisitive K in our Sky boxes if this $1,000,000 gift from Del Smith comes through for Stadium Phase II.

CC:  Just don't go betting your Skybox on Whitewater.

retagent, the Cats will not need to run the ball against the Cobbers. The football will be flying through the air to several different recievers. If you didn't notice, Elliott threw 7 :o TD passes yesterday (102 in his 22 games as a Wildcat). Also I think the O line will keep the D off his ass, they have given up only 3 sacks all season.

It's the Cobbers who will need to get a passing game to get anywhere close. The stats posted were about the Linfield rushing D.

The Bracket is playing right into the Cats hands.  We have talked about the Salty D all year, but no one out there has taken notice, saying stats don't mean anything.  At this point if you are thinking of bringing your team to the Catdome, your #1 concern is not how to stop or even contain our O but moving the ball against the Salty D.  Its all been tried this year but Coach Smith has the D working on all 8 cylinders.  They are as electric as our O in my opinion.  We beat a pretty good team yesterday by 7 count em 7 TD's  with 6 sacks.  We can talk about our special teams later, but they pretty much distroyed Oxy all day long.  Right now the Cats are a machine out there.  Oh and I see we are hearing the old smash mouth stuff again on the board again, blah blah blah,  thats the same stuff we heard out of LAX and Rowan last year.  Bring em on boys.  Let the beatdown begin :-\

Phone it in,  102 served by the Butcher and counting, its in the bank boys

We can talk about our special teams later, but they pretty much distroyed Oxy all day long.

Moving the ball on our D hasn't been an issue.  Teams have wracked up som yards on us, like Oxy did yesterday. We allowed 475 yards on D, that's hardly stout.  But we DID hold them to 21 points and that's what really counts.  Dang that Collins was slippery. He pretty much was the entire team.

I agree 100% with the ST comments.  Our ST have been phenomenal.  I especially like the change in kickoffs: Instead of putting it through the endzone, which he's more than capable of, force them to field it on the three and TRY to get to the 20.  Oxy made it to the 20 or beyond, what, two times yesterday on 10 kickoffs? (9 TDs plus the opening kick).  The ST set the tone--bring it on baby.

Anyone in the Wildcat Nation need tickets to this week's playoff game?
I am heading to Texas to spend time with family over Thanksgiving. I have three ticktets on the 45 yard line (Sec. B, Row M, seats 11, 12, 13).

Oh Boy...here come the Johnnie All Boys Prep School College fans mouthing off about how great the Cobblers are and how they are going to run the ball down our throat and trick us with a couple passes here and there. Isn't this the same Cobbler Program that were the MIAC Champs last year and got their butts kicked by Oxy? Can't wait!!!   ;D

Hey 'Cat fans . . . here's a link to the Los Angeles Times piece on yesterday's game:

Congratulations on your victory . . . wish it had been different but we'll see you again.

Now go out and bring that Stagg trophy back to the west coast!

Thanks Sabretooth for the article and your being such a classy sport.  I know you guys are hurting from that loss and we are well aware that Elliott graduates this year.  You've set a great example for good sportmanship for us to follow in defeat when it happens to us. It will happen but we'd prefer it not be for a while longer.
