What was the official line on BE other than the 7 TD's? I've heard anywhere from 486 to 500+ yards? Tonight I think we saw the #1 and #2 d3 QB's in the country. That Collins kid is one hellava hard guy to go down. To bad for him on that fumble though. The way he was ripping off big chunks of yards around the end I was surprised he tried to go thru the middle of the line. I definetly think we'll see a better team next week in the Cobbers but not a better QB.

Desert Cat- Nice meeting you and I'll use smiley next time.

Topcat-Did you ever buy that drink for Tez?

I never made it to the Elks.  :'(

Since it will be Thanksgiving Weekend...why don't we nickname the Cobbers...."the Gobblers"!    ;D

DesrtCat1....I kind of thought the 2 female dancers giving each other a lap dance kind of stole the show though...  :o

Whats a Cobber?

Swede, this is what I found on what a cobber is.

1. cobber

an archaic Australian colloquial term used to mean 'friend'
(similar to 'mate')"...when my cobber had to go spend a penny."

2. Cobber

Australian colloquialism meaning "mate" or "friend", but not necessarily in the literal term. Can be used to address a stranger in leiu of "Hey, you there!" or "Hey, kid!" in a more friendly manner. As the word's been used since the earliest Colonial settlements of Australia, many Aussies mistakenly believe the word is archaic and no-longer used. In actuality, it's simply slightly less understood then more generic forms of greeting (such as "mate")."G'day, cobber."
"G'day, mate. How're ye doin'?"
"Aw, been flat out like a lizard drinkin'. Hear the Sydney Swans hammered Collingwood on Saturday?"
"Ripper."

3. cobber

another word for mate, commonly used amongst other people.G'day Cobber, hows life treating you

4. cobber

n. Former Australian greeting/address which no self-respecting Aussie has used for at least 40 years!"You can pick a Yank tourist in Oz 'coz they'll say 'cobber' when they come up to you."

5. cobber

an elderly male how ya going old cobber

That came from the Urban dictonary

So, this weekend we battle the Concordia friends. How nice.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

I think they chose Cobbers after growing tired of being called the "Lutefiskers".  ;D

Seriously, check out www.gocobbers.com - click on athletic tradition and choose Concordia Mascot off of the menu.

Well, cawcdad, I'm glad we're on the same page now, I think. Never got to see #99 in person. I just moved out of the DC area in time to miss Ovechkin's arrival. He's the total package, and I think will win Rookie of the Year over "The Next One?" Good luck to your Cats, but I still gotta root for the Cobbers, which, by the way, I think has something to do with Moorhead being in corn country.

Is there a place on the website to see where you stack up in the pick'em pool we entered?  Did they keep a running update last year?

I am not one to complain that Linfield Doesn't get enough press ont his board, but I have to question why the Statistical Spotlight Feature on today's site doesn't have anything about BE's 7 TDs and 525 yards passing against an undefeated team in the playoffs in just over 3 quarters of a football game.....Don't get mad Pat, but what gives?
Go Cats!

Monday and already fur is flying....gotta love playoff time

Cat fans: let's face it, both the Cobbs and the Cats have played some cupcakes this year. So what, they have both risen above and have shown that they are very good teams.

I agree with earlier posts that the Cobbers need to get inot 2nd and 6 and 3rd and short situations in order for hte offense to be successful, and that the defense needs to play like it did vs. SJU. Meaning that we give up the short stuff, make good tackles, and then stiffen up in the redzone.

One thing that came to mind is hte fact that many of these Cobbers have been on a west coast trip before.  Many of the Seniors and Juniors were traveling with the team to Menlo in 2003, so the whole idea of a flight should not produce wide eyes.

MonroviaCat...where've you been. Trying to figure out the new format?

One tack that could have been taken here is that since LINFIELD was the pre-season favorite and is expected to go far in the playoffs they will get their own ink because then they WILL HAVE to be written about so in the meantime let's talk up as wide a spread of participants as possible until the end.

Two guys on the same team with over 2 hundred yards in receiving in the same game?!

BUT!....(shudder) if the 'Cats met that proverbial 'poor game' they had in 2003 and 2004 then=overlook.com for the 2005 season.

coco

DenS,

When are you coming up for a game? This weekend, or are you hoping the Johns will make it out here again? I'm not sure that's going to happen. I think we might see Whitewater.

Before I forget I want to give a shout out to the O line. They were outstanding again on Saturday, giving Elliott plenty of time. We heard that Oxy put pressure on QBs and had lots of sacks, but not that day. They hurried him a time or two, but that was it. What have we had this year, 3 sacks?

Monrovia-
As ridiculous as BE's, etc., #s were, I think they're kind of expected and not as big of news when they do happen.

I hope that Pat doesn't yell at you too much.

I know you didn't ask coco, but I will be up for the Linfield-SJU or WW game. I think Dens will be there too. Anybody have tickets for that one they would be willing to sell me.

TheCobberNation

Alright you fools from el nino country. All this talk about SJU has made me wonder one thing; do you know ANYTHING about the CC-SJU game from this year? We were unstoppable against SJU. Their means of scoring...Hail Mary! Not to mention a last second bomb for 80-some yards to win the game. Not to dwell in the past...

Your underpreparedness isn't a bad thing by any means but had we not had given up one last second bomb to the Jonnies, do you think we'd be #9 right now? Piss on the #6 california team that couldn't bring it.

Wake up.
