If it were only that simple. The bomb is an aspect, but Allen scored on a 78 yard screen pass last game.

Heh.  Great minds think alike...

From what I have heard (and am really hoping) is that the AD will be out at the end of the year.  I have also heard that the current HC will be looking for work as well, which is great, a current assistant whom is popular with the players will take his spot.

Very interesting, pdxpio. The report was about what I expected. And given the support shown at the two home games the Pio's had this year (and new, supportive folks in the positions of Pres. and Dean)...I'm not surprized by the reaction of the College.

About these other things you've 'heard' -- how do we separate wild rumor from real possibility? For example, I don't think an independent schedule is in the works (as LBC heard) because they need money to recruit and play a nonconference schedule with a few flights; and I'm wondering what grumblings you've heard about the AD. Plus, has Roger V. really had a chance to turn things around? The program was in pretty bad shape (minus Trent Thompson) under Fanger. Do you know how likely they are to axe Roger and promote an assistant? If likely, as an 'interim' guy or...? Thanks for any additional info. you can share.

one thing I heard from the field is that the Cobs three senior linebackers are outstanding tacklers.  They will need to be zeroing in on guys coming across the middle.  The Cobs are also very good at bringing pressure.  The Cat's O-line will get a good test this week.

D O.C.

Maroon&Gold...yeah! That's what I'm talking about...we got tradition with each other. Some of you folks will be returning to the 1978 upset site and will marvel at the changes. Still, there's that long ride back home.

'Cats Fa Natic...I was not aware we'd been advertising a December 3rd game for weeks AND fanaticism (as my references).

Remember Kernals, if you face the way the sun came up, south will be on your right. What? Raining? Fog? Walk down the street from the scoreboard end of the field past the baseball (Bear Stadium) field.

KK...could go like this. Con Moo gets the ball and drives 51 yards in their first 9 plays. On the eighth they fumble. LINFIELD recovers.  BAM! Two plays later a 67 yard (4 yd bubble pass/63 yd run) TD.
Kick in the end zone. Ball on the 20. 9 plays down to the LINFIELD 17. 4th and field goal. Good! 3-7. Kick off returned to Con Moo 42. BOOM! 38 yard reception. 3 yd run. 3-14.
(I could go on but it's lunchtime.)

Kenneth K.....those linebackers are going to have to figure out how to play outside.  As Tigersports pointed out either on this board or the SCIAC board, he didn't announce the names of the OXY linebackers much last Saturday.   In case you haven't figured it out, Linfield plays football between the boundary and the hashes on each side of the field and not between the hashes in the middle of the field.   If the Cobs want to use linebackers in coverage....well....that is going to be much to Linfield's advantage.  Oxy's spread worked pretty well last season against Concordia.   They'll be going against even better athletes this next week.

LBC:
According to the information that I have seen from L&C, they will "continue with their long football tradition" and do so "within a NWC schedule." They intend to fulfill their obligation to the current 2006 NWC schedule. What happens after that will obviously depend on numbers, support and results. It is, then, a positive development for the NWC (at least for the time being).

right, i heard the same thing, which baffles me that much more. i dont see how L&C can dump the NWC sked and then pick it right back up the next year.  the school administration has some work to do.  add this to the major fraud that went down a few years back and now we have this, oh i almost forgot monica too, but hey, things are lookin up!

I would think they have to play in the NWC. They'd have to take about 5 flights a year to have a 9 game, independent schedule. Two flights to find winnable non-conference games is expensive enough (especially when added to the recruiting budget they're going to need the next couple years). Also, pulling student-athletes out of class to travel that much, when a league of similar schools are so close, couldn't be viewed as 'in line' with a rigorous liberal arts education.

Unless they are going to play just 4 or 5 games for a year or two, they are most likely bound to the NWC. And I don't think another partial season would help their image in the recruiting/rebuilding process. They need to get enough guys committed this spring and summer and just take their lumps until they can compete. They'll be recruiting their brains out over the next 2-3 years. But with a more understanding admissions philosophy and administrative support, maybe there is hope.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!![/b]

Allen returned to his winning ways at the Friday night Mario Party video game contest after temporarily relinquishing his title to Jared Thomas.

Man, if that wouldn't have happened, it would have been a really bd omen for the 'Cats!!!!   ;)

Ritz,

I was a little worried when I read in the N-R that Thomas won the Mario Cart Party title before the Willamette game.  I thought it was a bad sign because Allen has won (I believe) every M.C.P. get together before.  But that "doomsday" sign when out the door when Linfield has put up 63 points the past two weeks.  :)

Maroon & Gold,

Sounds like a long bus trip for the parents, but I am sure they are pumped for it.

Us WC tailgaters always make the other team supporters Welcome.  It is great to visit with fans from some of the classier leagues and teams so I am sure I speak for most if not all of them encouraging the Cobber Followers to stop by.  The TG action is about 2 blocks south of the stadium.  you can't miss it and it is an easy walk.

Hopefully we can get all the corn off the grill before they arrive.

If they come in on Friday and are staying in McCatville some of us normally get together at the ELKS downtown on Friday night before the playoff games.  Great crowd such as Tux Guy, Blue Note, Desert Cat, WC 11, and of course myself and others.

I would like to see WC64 down here, but it is a far trip from Alaska, but he is a great guy.

pdxpio,

That's great news about Lewis and Clark. I hope this will enable them to also get back to a competitive level in the NWC, like they used to be. Those players deserve that, and it's better for the rest of the conference as well.

Hey, Beancounter, lay off Patton. My kids went there, and Little Coco played and later coached football there. At least they won some.

Congrats to Elliot - Big Suprise there.

How did he not win it last year? Didn't he have like 120 touchdowns?
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.
