Coach Casey was a head coach (interim) at Whitworth during the offseason in the early 90's I think...otherwise Bridgeland is the only real head coach I can think of that's done it

Thanks - just one of those "wonder if"s that came to mind.

Olddog - they are young (no doubt), but did you happen to catch this earlier story? It will fill you in on the larger picture:

Congrats to both, and wishes for many happy decades together.

Thanks Train, hope it works out for him and his family. Tough journey ahead, the little guy is cute.

Mrs. Oldcat and I were married at 18...right out of high school...and now it's 51 years later. (And they say teenage marriages never last? ;D) Over the last year or so I've talked with both Sam and Briahnna about this and encouraged them many times. They're great young folks.

Mrs. Oldcat and I join Olddog (aka "the Old Folks") to wish them well.

Former NWC football only member, Menlo, has officially dropped football: http://www.menloathletics.com/article/5779.php

Interesting that Menlo's release mentioned schools dropping football in recent years, but not the many schools that have started or restored programs. And I believe most of those who dropped the sport were in the higher classifications, while most of those joining or rejoining the game are at the lower classifications.

Congrats, OdCatProf!   Same story here; Caroline and I will hit 54 "seasons together" in six weeks.

To bad for the young men that played football there.

Yeah. We kinda hit them pretty hard on Twitter because of that this afternoon.

I thought they'd last another year or two. But it seemed like their only chance was as a SCIAC or NWC football-only D3 member. I guess they felt they needed to have the flexibilty to offer 'scholarships' a few years back and cross their fingers regarding the (NAIA) Frontier Conf.
