That's too bad.... Menlo had some great teams and players.... I remember when thy came to the CatDome and I saw their awesome QB and Receiver.... cant remember names now but the Qb was short and stocky and was a real fire cracker. PLus they always played hard at their home field.

Second dirtiest team we played against, right behind Cal Who. Sad to see a football program fold, but they never did have stability or a sense of history as a program.

With Menlo dropping football it got me thinking

[Looking into my crystal ball]

....it's only a matter of time before the West Coast D2 conference dissolves football.  Teams in that conference has zero chance in making the playoffs, two of the schools are bailing for a difference conference (that will only leave them with 5 football members), and have zero chance of getting EOU or SOU to join.

I think once that happens, the next step will be some of these GNAC schools dropping football completely and focusing purely on hoops, baseball, etc.  I think they have one hail mary and that's if Carroll jumps to DII (has been rumored).

The NWC and SCIAC HAS to make it a priority to help each other out in terms of scheduling, keeping costs down, and keeping D3 football on the west coast healthy.

Agreed. I'm worried that some SCIAC schools will drop football too, wouldn't be surprised if it happened. CMS, PP, Whittier would be the likely schools in my opinion.

RPB,

This sounds like message board stuff, but I know some admin folks at Azusa Pacific and they see the writing on the wall.
They have visions of expansion and I can see them going down the same road as University of SD. Their new basketball arena is already there. They realized they were not an NAIA school given their size. I agree D2 is more at risk than D3 on the west coast.
Whittier would be my first guess to drop football in the SCIAC. PP has a ton of endowment money so they can afford it.
It has been well documented what football does for a liberal art school. Do you think Hunsaker donates if they dropped football.
Where can a liberal arts college go and bring in over 100 males, for the yearly budget they spend on football. It makes sense to keep football. UR is going to need to remodel in the next 10 years so it will be interesting to see if the new admin spends the funds on this topic.
Less than two more years of Gavin.

Linfield may be one of the 3-4 top teams in the nation next year.

I might be wrong but I think the QB was Akim Azir. Threw for a mile of yardage and lost a barn burner.

Andy Jamison - Walla Walla Wildcat

Here is hoping that we bring in several good QBs... maybe even a JUCO transfer... We don't have much depth behind Riddle and Knecht... speaking of which... I hope he gets rep at wide receiver as he is to good of an athlete to sit his entire career.. we need to get him on the field.. that is if he wants to play another position...

Are there changes in Linfield's 2015 schedule?    It has still not been posted on the LC website?
