I'm not going to disagree about the short yardage stuff early yesterday.  It may be nitpicking but I think we're all thinking about the bigger picture and looking at this team with a critical eye.  I know some fan bases may roll their eyes at Linfield fans picking on a 73-0 win...but I get it.
any thoughts on why this was an issue (play call, line play, etc.?)--I know--"no comment".  Was just pretty shocking to see the PIOS stop the CATS from that short distance.  I get that they were pretty much committing to stop the run most of the first half and we couldn't get too much going but man.....1 yard was all we needed on the one series..

Ahoy!  I hear (on the podcast) that the Guru (Pat) is headed to the CATDOME this weekend.

My report from Forest Grove:
The Boxers are pretty solid. Good O-line and front seven on D. Senior playmakers: QB, RB, top 2-3 receivers. Good decisions, took care of the ball, limited homerun threats...but they balance run and throw well and keep drives going. 9 of 15 on 3rd and 4th down. They'll give the Wildcats a decent test and their Whitworth match-up should really be interesting. One banner referenced their game vs. Oxy next year being played in Hawai'i - anyone else heard about that? I think they'll be down a notch next year - too bad they lost to Dubuque.

The Lutes? I'm really hopeful (and mostly convinced) it's just that they are so young and inexperienced. They forced a couple field goals, but otherwise struggled to get their D off the field. They got pushed around a bit. Short Boxer passes turned into 15 yard plays pretty easily (tackling). Rarely got pressure even when they brought extra bodies, a step slow in coverage, etc.
Running game looked a little better than what I was expecting. O-line had trouble giving the QB time (6 sacks), but he was a little shaky (or had no one open) when they did. They finally showed a little confidence and rhythm on their last two drives.
The team overall showed some flight and seemed to stay positive - we'll see how they develop...

Am I the only one having problems with the Linfield.edu website?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

They are having server issues! They are currently trying to rectify the problem.

I think Locey's team will be good on defense in the first quarter against anyone. To bad their offense isn't going to sustain drives and keep their D off the field. They don't seem to have the bodies to give a key defender a break.

Thx. I should note: I didn't see PLU's second offensive drive when they got inside the 10. 7-3 or 7-7 there might have made a difference in the tone. But this was a bad match up for the Lutes and it really snow-balled on 'em. The Boxers are senior-led, pretty big, and play a physical game. The Wildcats should expect a little tougher game from them this year.

Hope they don't give up 73 like the real Lewis and Clark! ;D

62 at home to Utah...but I don't think Wazzu can do that well.
