Whitworth just squeezed in to the d3football top 25 this week. Sandberg is way ahead of any schedule I would have given the program to return to top 25 quality, and even though they may not actually be there yet (who can tell when La Verne is the best team you've played?), I'll take the recognition.

Linfield is still a couple touchdowns better than Whitworth (at least) but I like how Whitworth matches up from an X's and O's standpoint, even if the Jimmies and Joes aren't up to par...yet.

Its a shame this game won't be played on the nicest playing surface in the Northwest, I guess the atmosphere at the Catdome will have to do...
Congrats on climbing back into the top 25, even if it was at the expense of my Lutes.  I suspect it will be unfortuantely short lived.

Unfortunately, with the way most polls work, anything short of a Whitworth win (ie huge upset) and you're right. If Whitworth can keep it within a couple touchdowns, they ought to stay in the top 25. We know MUC, UWW, Linfield, UMHB do much worse than that to folks ranked down there come playoff time every year. But with so many deserving teams I think any loss drops em right out.

That may be true of the coaches' poll but not ours. Ask North Central and UW-Platteville how it works.

Pat's got that right.  The d3 pollsters have definitely been giving credit to teams that play well against high ranked opponents.  Even if they lose.  The key would be to have a positive showing, not like Pacific did this year.

Question to wildcat supporters: We are heading up to game this weekend and I was wondering where are the hot spots "for Cat Fans!" to get breakfast before the big game in Mac? Looking for great game this weekend

I think a safe bet is Wildwood Cafe.  It's a really popular breakfast spot near 3rd street but it's small so there is usually a wait to get in.  Can't go wrong with Tommy's though.  And as much as I dislike McMenamins (Hotel Oregon) lunch/dinner/service...their breakfast is actually very good.

The breakfast at Blue Moon on 3rd street is as good as any. The cook on Saturday and the gal behind the bar are top notch.

Crescent Cafe on main street (3rd) is excellent also.....

macVille,

Both gren and Blue know their stuff so you can't go wrong with any of those recommendations.

For post game dinner....hit the Deluxe on 3rd street. It's a long standing bar on 3rd street but I love that place. One of the best burgers around.  Get the Double D burger with Bacon and thank me later.

My script says Linfield wins 50 - 14

My "journalist speak" says Linfield 35 - 17

My "common sense" says, "No matter how you look at it, Whitworth is toast...."

My "bottome line" says, "Linfield wins, the score doesn't matter...."

Imagine that precious little boy in his arms right now could have been discarded as an inconvenience.

Mega dittos and big +K for your comments on ..."The Riddler".
It is a very worthy story about love and family.

I am looking forward to a bit of "Cat Dome" hospitality tomorrow afternoon. Weather report says 65 and overcast - easy on the eyes. I've been in "Mac" all week on business and looking forward to a good game unwinding with other D3 fans.
