Whitworth particularly not surprising since Head Coach Rod Sandburg (who is former Wheaton Def Coordinator) is on the West RAC. Of course he recused himself when they discussed his team!

Caruso too. Interesting.

Casey is also a rep...so two NWC reps and Linfield is only 3rd while Whitworth was tied for 5th with SJU ahead of Platt and Wartburg.  Funny.

Sandberg is also listed as a national committee member as well so make your Whitworth vs Linfield round 1 rematch plans now.   ::)

***edit: I guess co-chairs (Sandberg) don't vote on regional rankings so Casey is the one that votes on behalf of the NWC.

So lets assume ranks stay the same 1-4 on all regions or somewhat same, do you think the Cats would at least see a second round game home game unlike last year? Hard to get my head around this region ranks when your rated by d3/afca coach polls as #2 in the nation but third in west region.

Can't assume anything. I think Linfield should host at least 3 rounds, probably 4. But after seeing those rankings, I wouldn't be shocked if they had to play in Texas for round 2 (if Hardin-Simmons wins that rematch).  ???

I don't think we can really say--it depends on how the bracket turns out.  I would say they would deserve a 2nd home round game but so would Hardin Simmons (should they win out and win their first round game) so then (assuming the bracket turns out similar to last year) who gets the home game (maybe Hardin Simmons because they have a more impressive resume in the sense that they could have 2 wins over RR'd opponents and a better SOS)....

I guess last yrs playoff perfomance counts 4 zero...wow

Pretty much--it's supposed to be used as a tie-breaker but it's not a otherwise supposed to be considered.....

I think Linfield has a SOS problem when compared to St. Thomas and Oshkosh.  Oshkosh will definitely come back toward Linfield there.  But I also don't think that UW-O's RRO wins aren't going anywhere and Linfield can't really find another RRO win anywhere.  So there might not be much room for upward movement in the West rankings for Linfield.

I would guess that Linfield and the SCIAC champion will play in round 1 and that they'll be paired up with the HSU/UMHB game for Round 2.  I would frankly be shocked if that game wouldn't take place in Oregon...this is where your previous year's tournament comes into play.

my stupid reply to all of this is, then why even do ranks? They seem to be completely meaningless...
