Whitworth is bringing in 50 new players. 46 freshmen and 4 transfers. Consider me happy, then again I've said for awhile now that you need to bring a lot of bodies in to compete with Linfield. Especially when you aren't yet bringing in the caliber of high school player that the top dogs are. I still think that outside of the elite guys and the Wisconsin schools, d3 recruiting is a numbers game. The more bodies you bring in the more likely you are to find that 6'4 215 lb TE that ends up being 6'6 260lb and gets drafted by the Chiefs...

Certainly hope 509rat continues with the prognostications in this year's blogs.

Okay, this was just too rich to pass up:

"The university [GF] hosts food vendors on its alcohol-free campus before home games, then watches as Stoffer Family Stadium's 2,700 seats fill. George Fox led their conference by averaging 2,896 fans at home games. Pacific was second at 2,241. No other conference opponent — including Linfield, the perennial McMinnville power with an NCAA-record 60-year streak of winning seasons — cracked the 2,000-fan mark."

I'm a year older and it's down to 7 weeks.

I'd venture I'm not alone in wondering where the board enthusiasm is.
Speaking strictly for myself LINFIELD traveling to the semi-final game has left me a voidoid.
Scheduling puts us on the average SOS and that puts us on the NCAA road.
The island crap has become tiresome.

Most worthy UMHB in Belton will say much.  I can't go. That's another enthusiasm blow.

I'll bet the WILDCATS have been working hard to get to where they have to go. Me too.  I'm ready.

McMinnville Cable Board

Hi all,

I wanted to get some feedback about any future candidates for NWC football expansion. It sounds like the relaunches at Pacific and George Fox are going well, are there any Oregon or Washington schools which may try to bring back their programs? I'm guessing if Oregon Tech relaunched, it would be back at the NAIA level, but I'm no expert on this subject.

I'd have to guess that there are no more than one or two possible NWC football additions: Whitman and College of Idaho. Neither appear very likely. Western Washington was one cut that really surprised me. Menlo was in a pretty rough spot.

I heard a rumor (down here in Arizona) that all NWC football schools are going to field teams this year. Sure is hard to tell whether that is true or not when checking this board. Hello? Hello? Is there anybody out there? [This situation reminds me of the old Wendy's commercial with several old ladies standing at the unstaffed front counter and Clara finally exclaims "I don't think there's anybody back there." Maybe that's the case here.]

If the rumor is not true would somebody please tell me so that I don't waste time planning my annual trip to McMinnville for football season. Sheesh, maybe the season has been cancelled.

Hi Monrovia Cat. Good to see you're alive and (I hope) well.

Guess I'm not stranded on a desert island (Arizona) without communication after all. Still no indication, though, whether there will be NWC football this season or not. Maybe the schedule has been pushed back to next year. At the moment, I don't know whether to fly to Oregon tomorrow or not. Sure would hate to make a wasted trip and spend the Fall in Oregon without Wildcat football.

Another thought: Being retired is really hard. Every day is the same as every other day. You never get a day off.

I concur.

I have made two trips to Oregon this summer. Just got back from the Olympic Trials in Eugene. What is with all the George Fox Football billboards along I-5? Including one in the Bearcats home of Salem. Are they trying to recruit players or fans? Going after Duck and Beaver fans?

I'd wager the helmet design is on every one.
They're trying to get mileage out of a unique design.

Yes, this year the NWC board is very quiet.   Even the SCIAC has been more exciting.   I have some thoughts on why it is so quiet here, but it would ruffle some fans' feathers.    However, it is not hard to figure out several likely reasons.

Yes, NWC will play football this year and it is only 8 weeks away!!!     YEAH.
