   Thanks Oxy,
I have been searching for the right description for the SCIAC team in stripes yesterday you hit it on the money and you wern't at the game.  NIICCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEE !!!!!!

I know the officials are chosen from a "neutral" division but I hope this is the last we see of the SCIAC crew. Can anyone tell me if the officating crews in the playoffs rotate every week or will we be seeing these dunderheads next week?

Maybe we can take up a collection to buy them a rule book and some thicker glasses...

Every time I see officating like this, I'm reminded of that Motel 6 commercial years ago with the ref in the thick glasses, who goes to pour some creamer into his coffee and misses by six inches...

It was tense listening on the radio from far away. The cats didn't make the big scores to drive the opponent out of the game in the first half as is usually the case. From your prospective what were the adjustments that the cats made in the second half that made the difference both on offense and defense? Did CM go away from what had been working for them?

Well, well, well.    Linfield can't beat everybody 60-0.    What a shocking surprise!    Phone it in all you want, but these playoffs can be, and usually are, tough games.

I think the Wet Blanket would be happier if the 'Cats lost.  I know the Wet Blanket doesn't like the many of us who like to jab with other boards but I find the "soap box" poster who only comes on once in a blue moon to hold their nose at the group the most annoying of all.

I have already given my thoughts on the ball-control offense and how it came back to bite the Cobbers in the end.  But interestingly this line of thinking seems to permeate the fans as well based on their posts.

We need a nice grind it out drive here and a TD - linfield just scored. 21-14 linfield

They're DOWN seven and they're thinking grind it out?  To what, tie it and not leave enough time on the clock?

The knd of clock-eating drives the Cobbers are known for!

Ditto. I fail to understand the logic of this thinking.

Concordia needs to eat up clock on the way to the endzone like Don Krause through a mountain of food.

This last one was also posted when they're down seven.  They then went down 14 and the Cobbers fans stopped posting. But their team--to me--still looked like it wanted to grind it out when all they did was grind to a stop.

This is especially puzzling to me because the Cobbers showed--surprisingly--that they had a very good and effective passing game when they wanted to. Their QB threw some crips balls, for a while there he was perfect and then started missing. But they most certainly could throw the ball.

To put a spin on the old real estate montra, I guess it's all adjustments, adjustments, adjustments. And for whatever reason, they just could not, or would not, get out of their game plan.

Yes to tie the game and not leave any time for the Linfield offense to score again - you were moving the ball pretty easily in the second half (drives of 96 and 92), so using up some clock and sending it to overtime sounded fine to me - at least then we both have a shot at scoring.

Why would we change our gameplan??  And to what??  Start throwing the ball all the time?  Thats not what has gotten us this far.  Its tough to comeback when we're down with that style of play. but a nice long drive would have done alot for the moral of the Cobbs, and the momentum would have shifted back to us.  Then who knows what would have happened.

Also keep in mind that our passing game was working because of play action - something that doesn't always work when a team knows you are going to pass late in the game.

My Yak, I'll second coco's comment on WC11 being a great guy. He's done a number of much appreciated favors for me. I'll be up for the WW game to collect 11.  ::)

beancounter, it was brutal sitting here listening and not getting to see the action.

coco, need someone to sample the wares prior to the tailgating on Saturday?  ;D

This is going to be a long week of anticipation, but the ole buggy is all ready for the drive to Mac and I'm ready to see all the Cat fans again and watch a great game.

It was 'oh so painful to not be at the Catdome yesterday and have to listen to the D & D show 2,500 miles away--the 1st half just about gave me a cardiac arrest!  I figured if I was to commit suicide it may as well be from the roof of the Catdome rather than jumping out of my office window.  Therefore, we're on the airplane headed for the friendly confines of The Elks on Friday and the Catdome on Saturday.

Just for all of you , I'm bringing  some Smoked Alaskan Salmon and Reindeer Sausage....Figured maybe we need a little spicey food to go along with those Iced Teas and get us "fired up" for the biggest game of the year!

Let's get the job done one more time!

Whatever. Being called not classy by some guy really does not bother me. I complimented the cobbers on a game well played and look forward to the warhawks being tough. Just because I point out when someone states the obvious does not mean I need a lecture from the board "Dad."

Beancounter- The game yesterday was a difficult listen for a bit. I was confident though once the 2nd half fumbles went away. Luckily, I will be dome-side for next weeks big encounter.

I too looked forward to an sju matchup, but will have to settle for #1 vs #2, I suppose.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

You really crack me up my man. What planet do you live on anyway.  Get with it-  Get behind the Cats,  have some fun, hang with the boys, enjoy the journey.
you must be one lonley mo fo.  You are probably the one that influenced the new John Elway commercial.

Cord Glory, I agree with you. If I was a Cobber fan, I would have had no problem with my team continuing to grind it out even after falling behind 21-14. It's only one score. Taking time off the clock (providing there is almost no time left for the 'Cats) and scoring one more time would have been perfect. Go into overtime and take your chances. I do agree with whoever said that probably wasn't the best approach when you fell behind by 2 TDs because you needed two quick strikes. But then again, you weren't a pass first team. In fact, look what happened when the Cobbers were forced out of their type of game. Pass first = INT for Hazenberg late in the 4th.

For all 'Cat fans who are thinking, "Man that QB was pretty good. Heck, he even threw a nice ball when he needed to." Well, seems he was that good. Evidentally, he was only the second player in MIAC history to ever receive back to back conference MVP awards.

Interested to see this Whitewater team. I get the feeling they will be big and strong like La Crosse was last year, but maybe a bit more athletic.

I was listening to the game online with a faithful MIAC supporter.  At halftime I couldn't hold still.  I was pacing around my apartment like I could actually influence the game.  And then when Casey Allen fumbled to start the second half and my friend started laughing I wanted to drop kick him.

A ton of credit to the d-coaching staff.  They did a great job of making adjustments at the half.  And once the offense started clicking my heartrate fell back to normal.  It was fun to have a competative game.  I guess the west is a tough as we all expected.

Congrats to the Cats!  Sorry the Johnnies couldn't set up a rematch this year.  I'm now on your bandwagon!  Beat the Warhawks!

We're glad to have you.  I'm as disappointed that we won't be playing St. John's next week as you are.  We have the makings of a great rivalry that could have added another chapter on Saturday.

As big a disappointment for me is not getting to meet some of you Johnnie fans.  Just lurking on your board has given me some perspective of what it means to be a Johnnie.  I'd love to make it out to Clemmens field for a game.

Using posting #s as the measure you guys are incredibly supportive fans.

Foss -

When we were down two scores, then passing was probably a good idea.  But when you went ahead 21-14, I think a long drive would have been great to have.   When we went down 28-14, there wasn't much we could have done anyways, and it would have been too little too late.  But I'm guessing Linfield isn't used to long, drawn out boring drives, so i can see why you would want us to start passing if you were in our shoes.  But this year that just wasn't our style.

But it was a great game...I'm glad we could show a little bit to the outside world that Linfield is not completely immortal - but it will still take a very good game for someone to knock you off.

Good luck the rest of the way.

Cord Glory - Thanks for the support. And just to clarify, I agreed with you on it making more sense for the Cobbers to continue to try and grind it out when down 21-14. And believe it or not, we have had many seasons in the past where the long, grind it out drives was our style. It's just the last few seasons our strengths have been through the air. You go with what works at the time.
