Little Bro and the rest of the Cobbs flew in last night at about 12:30. A couple thoughts from him.

Elliot is the real deal

Allen is an absolute beast of a receiver

The Catdome was packed and loud

Overall the game was very fun to be a part of and the Linfield players were very classy on the field

He did mention that some of the Lindield fans who were parked behind the Cobber benches seemed to be a little under the weather of the "bottle flu" and were making off-color comments to the Cobbers. However I am going to believe that these were a few bad apples and that the Cat faithful bandwagon as a whole is very classy.

Great game yesterday and good luck next week vs. the Warhawks.

Maroon & Gold,

Thanks for the kind comments about the Cobbers "Catdome Experience"--- sorry there were a few folks that had the "flu"-- it seems to often happen no matter what the program.

Much like the Cobbers, Linfield is a has a long storied past that the fans, coaching staff, City of McMinnville and the entire Linfield family is very proud of....we want every team that comes into the Cats lair goes away with a great experience--be it win or lose (and it's never easy to lose).

You obviously have a quality program (as we have experienced over the past 40+ years much to our shagrin on two previous occasions)....this just happened to be the year of the Cats!

Best of luck next year -- 'till we meet again!

From what I can gather from the players, the experience was very fun, and enjoyable, except for the final outcome.  I definitely look forward to future classic games against the 'Cats.  Good luck next week, and safe travels from Alaska.

maroon...

Interesting observations...I think you're right about the few bad apples at the games.  I know exactly who you're talking about and those guys do make some amazingly dumb comments almost 100% of the time, they should just throw one of them out one of these days and make an example of them.

That being said, I think it's BS that people get on the students that are standing in the endzone calling out guys numbers and talking to them during the game.  It's a road game for the visitors, a hostile environment, deal with it.  As long as they aren't cussing at them, what's the harm, that is part of playing on the road.  I see over on the WIAC board, the students are getting flack for singing na na na.....goodbye, at the end of the game.  So What?

It's the pussification of the sports world, maybe we shouldn't keep score.  Here's to a tie next week in McMinnville...

Hey I have no problem with what you are saying.  Home field advantage inherently means that the visitors must be at some sort of disadvantage.  I was not trying to take a shot at Linfield, I was just putting out there what had been said to me.

About the people complaining about the students at UWW....are you kidding me.

If you are getting uptight about "Na, Na, Na,   Goodbye"  you need to pull up your skirt and gut it out.  I would love for that to happen, it means that the students are into the game.

Oh yea...no problem maroon and gold...it's seemingly a constant battle every week at the catdome,  "don't talk to the other teams players!"  Why not?  I agree with you about the clowns behind the bench though, that's bush, and it's just not that they are behind the bench, but its what they say, not creative, cussing and unintelligent..

It just seems like everybody is getting soft and doesn't want anybody's feelings to get hurt...pussification of america...

I agree...we stand in the endzone with the students and I have yet to hear a 4-letter word or derogatory comment to the other teams' players.  Heckling is heckling and it's what makes the intimate atmosphere of the Catdome such an advantage....it's the best place in D3!!

I'm interested to hear DC's initial comments on WW...don't keep us waiting!!

Lever Street

I was standing on the sidelines and endzone at the CAT game.  It was just the normal yelling from the fans as normal.    "Don't think about the Fumble" is a standard as the opponents await a Linfield kickoff.

I did not hear 1 word of profanity durring the entire game.

Regarding the Cobbers posessions in the 2nd half.  I was pleasantly surprised that they gave up on the play action pass.  They had burned the CATS badly twice in the first half, but never ran the play in the 2nd half.  More than the play calling however, the Cobbers used their 3 timeouts poorly in the 2nd half.
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

What's up with Gharret Whales?

Does he do any of the kicking anymore, or is he just 2nd string to Dailey?  Gotta feel bad for him.  Same kind of deal for Benzel, A D1er transfering in and taking their spots.

When we were down two scores, then passing was probably a good idea.  But when you went ahead 21-14, I think a long drive would have been great to have.   When we went down 28-14, there wasn't much we could have done anyways, and it would have been too little too late.  But I'm guessing Linfield isn't used to long, drawn out boring drives, so i can see why you would want us to start passing if you were in our shoes.  But this year that just wasn't our style.

When you were down 7, there was still 12 minutes on the clock. Even had you tied, it would have left a good three or four minutes for us to score again. Then when you were down 14, it was still grind-it-out mentality. When the momentum shifts, change is needed.

But hey, I'm glad you stuck with it.

I do see a lot of potential for you guys next year. You've got a tough and yet young team. I won't be surprised if you get a lot further next year than this.

...I think the coaches play the best talent. Wouldn't you? Or would you just play your guys for sentimental reasons? I don't know, I'm not a coach. I assume there is some sort of evaluation process/criteria that occurs on the practice field which leads to a fairly objective result. In any case, it's a tough situation.

So when we were down 7 we should have tried to tie it up as quickly as we could?  Like I've said many times before - thats not how we operate.  When we were down 14, there wasn't much we could have done anyways...so lets just forget about it.

We do have a lot of guys coming back, but like last year, we do lose a lot of playmakers.  But hopefully we can fill some shoes just like this year.  We lose Schumacher - which is a HUGE loss, along with our entire linebacking core, 3 of 4 out of our secondary, and some good d-lineman.

It will be interesting to see - but i agree, we could make a real run next year.
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Foss...finally...a worthy scroll in time for the BIG games.

The Kernels (I got it!) noticed the lack of LINFIELD board jive w/out the ball and being behind 14-7 nearing the half.  I opined that 'CATFAN is used to having his team score while he's in the bathroom that it was an odd daylight-to-a-dark-room feeling there until the coaching staff had their say at half.

                                          DEFENSE!
That was one of Brett's most interesting games yet. Did the Kernels notice they had him play the whole shebang? But that one series! 11 straight passes! 31-39! Playoffs!

Smashmouth without timeouts is uphill grind. Can someone enlighten me how it was Kernels used theirs up so fast in the second half?

So we're the underdog at home this week. I'll see that!
1   UW-Whitewater   1.032   12   0   92.62
2   Linfield   0.958   10   0   90.03

These big, fast, tough teams are so scary I hope we do not embarrass ourselves against the toughest conference in DIII.

See Brett throw.   Throw Brett.   See Brett run!!!   Run Brett!   See Casey run.   See Brandon run.   See Tyler run.   See Jared run.   See Brad run.   Run Casey!   Brandon!   Tyler!   Run Jared!   Run Brad!   Run!

DenSLA -  You must be a junior varsity trash-talker!  I am sure your wit and wisdom this week will be extremely intimidating for the WIAC champions.
A matter of fact, a couple WW players in yesterday's postgame press conference indicated that they got really nerved up when SJU fans were taunting them from the stands.   I encourage you to keep it coming because it will only have a detrimental effect on the Warhawks psyche.
