It's interesting to note that the current runner-up in the active "most consecutive winning seasons" derby (Florida State) is 2 and 4 after the 7th week of their season. (One game was cancelled...likely an automatic win...due to this year's hurricane trifecta.) With only 5 remaining games...against Boston College (4-4), Syracuse (4-4), Clemson (6-1), Delaware State (1-4), and Florida (3-3)...this could be the year that Florida State yields its #2 ranking in the active winning streaks contest to Mount Union.

Let's keep it going, Wildcats!

The conversation about the stream is interesting. On one hand I get the frustration from the Alumni that don't live in Oregon but on the other hand  I'm a townee and I don't get it when people don't come to home games because of the weather HUH! If you need to get out of the weather look me up I have 2 seats right above the tunnel that I have never sat in. For the D3 faithful that just want to watch a Linfield home game sorry you have to pony up. GO CATS

I wonder how much the cost of having to scramble and schedule that game in Ohio against Case Western is still stinging the budget.

From 2013? I can't imagine. There was a lot more 2014 travel that could have had a much greater budgetary impact, depending on how many people above the NCAA reimbursement amount Linfield traveled for playoff games.

And the part about whether CWR split the total costs w/ Linfield?
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Agree w/ everything you said, gren. I've never understood an Oregonian afraid of getting wet while watching a football game. And at the same time yes, it does stink for the far away fans who are paying for something that apparently isn't very high quality. Offering up 2 of your own seats that are out of the rain is simply a very cool gesture.

Typically for a one-game contract with no return some money would change hands but I refuse to speculate about the financial arrangements on a game that happened four years ago.

Now gren knows I cannot take him up on his offer.  I, too, have never, ever sat for a LINFIELD game.
Admittedly, I did have to leave the Whitworth game after the deluge left me shivering in a purple long-sleeve tee shirt with no umbrella or rain gear to drive to my host's home to get dry clothes.

So, this talk about rainy day people was started by FU folks saying they had more fans at the game than the home team?  I could not see the visiting stands on the video stream because.....well....

That football game that happened four years ago afforded LINFIELD people to actually drive to a Mount Union game and imprint the experience.

Sign me up!!! I'm in to contribute to improve our "improve the live stream fund".  The Linfield football program has been a "class act" for decades and we should have the best in class of a live stream program in Division III.  Add more cameras, pre-game, post game interviews, whatever is needed to be the very BEST, let's raise the funds and be in a class of our own.  Then we can stop debating over a few $$$ because we are a step above any other program in Division III.
To review a bit of history it was probably only a decade ago that there was no live stream and those of us that were not in close proximity to Linfield had to follow the Cats by the next day Oregonian or hopefully a friend who would call you and tell you how our beloved Cats performed on Game Day.  In my case my Dad would tape the games as they were broadcast on COX cable in the Valley and send to me via airmail so that I could watch the games on Wednesday or Thursday the following week.  Those days are past and now the internet provides us with the luxury of watching the Cats around the globe.
Let's resolve to make our broadcast the best in Division III and raise the necessary funds from alumni to do so....we've been a leader for 62 years and counting...let's go to the next step!.  I'm in!

Wise choice. Would hate for you to end up in prison.

I'm spoiled that I've always had an alma mater that has provided free streaming except for the Monon Bell game, which is on cable (this year on Fox Sports Midwest and Fox Sports Indiana), and the other NCAC schools also have streaming. Our broadcast is pretty pretty pretty good, especially since we don't have a TV / Radio program of any sorts. The announcers may be homers, but I've known both of them since 1984...yeah, we're old.

I've had 'discussions' with Mt. Union fans when they never broadcast their games due to a TV rights issue. They were pretty arrogant that they didn't need to increase their reach or footprint. OK, maybe one or two. They also have a more limited scope when it comes to student recruiting overall than some of their neighbor colleges in Ohip (NCAC schools tend to reach out of the Midwest more often).

Which is what the $12 fee for Linfield may be preventing. Sure, the true faithful will pony up, but will casual fans, or the recruits or friends of recruits pay?

Linfield has been a great success story for generations, yet, to even just maintain you have to reach the generations, and make sure the alumni have a positive experience interacting with you. Keeping a good national ranking, even if you think the rankings are BS, is important. I know Linfield is much more than a 'football' school - I'd be proud to send my kids there.  But it just seems the $12 fee for streaming is a bit out there.

Mount reached out pretty good to Florida all of the sudden.

My 2 seats on the 50 2/3 of the way up are fine with me.... I pity the poor rats that scurry around trying to find cheese and the right view....

I'm with PC. That game was 4 yrs ago...why are we even speculating about it??? How could it possibly hamstring this team?
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.
