I was actually assuming that you wrote this under a pen name GT.

I have always used my real name, no pen name.    GT are simply my initials.

I assume/hope this was written as a column and not a news article, because I don't see any attempts to talk to anyone at the NCAA about the subject of this piece.

Pat, sorry, but the NCAA does not listen.    I have talked to them, mailed and e-mailed similar thoughts a few times over the last 7 years about the absurd brackets.    Absolutely no response at all --- ever!     They do not care or listen to the west coast.    Two conferences mean nothing to them.

George -- there's a difference between you as a fan writing to gripe and a journalist actually writing a story for what I would think is a reputable publication. Last I checked, journalists still make phone calls to try to get people on the record for something purporting to be a news story.

Hell, even if it's a column, Rusty might have done well to call for comment and run whatever double-talk response he got.

Irony is when myself and others complained about the SCIAC first game no matter what is on the road and they get either #5 LF or #1 MHB I was told by NW fans that is the way it is. Now that LF has to go thru MHB and its 2 and Q. The landscape has changed.

Olddog...if Linfield was ranked where SCIAC champ is usually ranked we would be excited and expect to go anywhere to get in the playoffs with no complaints...even a trip SCIAC land to play a higher ranked team....oh..ah...disregard...never mind.

olddog,

I guess we'll be doing lots of chatting with you and RFB as Linfield will be hosting Redlands this fall.

Also, we're going off the D-III grid in 2018 as Linfield and Carroll College (NAIA - Frontier) have agreed on a one year deal at Carroll.

Buckle up!

Great news! Hopefully it becomes permanent on each others schedule.

Olddog, you are right; both the SCIAC and the NWC have tough roads in the two rounds.    I would love LC to play the first 3 teams that MU does every year in the playoffs.

One year only and away??    Case Western again?    Too bad, we couldn't have scheduled an Oregon or Washington team, for a home and away series.

Linfield has great fan support and many would drive for 3-4 hours for a game.     Montana?    Little far.

Maybe you should write a letter to Coach Smith saying we should only schedule teams within a 500 mile radius?

I believe this qualifies as opinion, but I'd love to see what your evidence about what people "care" about looks like. You can't factually substantiate this -- you just like how it sounds in your narrative.
