I'm curious. Did Linfield pass on a new two year contract with UMHB?

I'm assuming that is probably the case but don't have that info.

Makes sense to me.  They are virtually built into our schedule around week 12 anyway.

If I was Redlands I would schedule Linfield & UMHB year in and out. Even a 9-0 SCIAC team has a slim chance of hosting, and will most likely be sent to Oregon or Texas for the playoffs. Might as well fight the bullies multiple times, get bloodied, and learn to slip their haymakers that knocked you out previously. The one great thing I saw when Redlands played UMHB last time was that they were not even remotely intimidated. They had seen them plenty and knew what to expect.

Cal Lu did the SCIAC no favors a few years back when they hosted round 1 and got demolished.

Agreed. Redlands beat that North Central team earlier in the year, so it was surprising to see Cal Lu get beat so easily.

This makes sense. Good post. Plus, if you happen to knock of Linfield or UMHB, you would actually likely get a home game like Cal Lu would have in 2010 against the 'Cats when they upset Linfield to start the season. I forget if Cal Lu didn't put in the bid to host in time or was doing construction on their field, but they ended up having to travel to Oregon in the first round when they would have actually been able to host.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

I don't think Redlands beat NC that season, I think it was the year before.

But it was still strange because Cal Lu almost beat Linfield that year (only lost by 3) and the 'Cats clobbered NC the following week in the playoffs.

You're correct. I was off by a year.

It was while they were constructing the new stadium and the current "stadium" did not meet NCAA standards for hosting.

Irony is when myself and others complained about the SCIAC first game no matter what is on the road and they get either #5 LF or #1 MHB I was told by NW fans that is the way it is. Now that LF has to go thru MHB and its 2 and Q. The landscape has changed.

olddog,

I guess we'll be doing lots of chatting with you and RFB as Linfield will be hosting Redlands this fall.

Also, we're going off the D-III grid in 2018 as Linfield and Carroll College (NAIA - Frontier) have agreed on a one year deal at Carroll.

Buckle up!

Carroll  is an easy game, program is down, bottom half of Frontier conference.
they've been down recently but aren't too far removed from some very good seasons. And I counted a total of 9 Seniors on their entire 2017 Roster which means they are going to have a ton coming back...could end up being a tough game indeed.

OD is trolling. Carroll game is going to be a bear for the 'Cats but looking forward to it.
OD trolling?  How dare you!   ;D ;D ;D  I'm just waiting to see how Redlands will play Linfield better than Linfield plays Linfield.....   :o

MC....remember...."it never went to 40"  an instant classic at the Runner up there with with the Cal lu photog

You're correct. I was off by a year.

I was at that game and it was truly a great game by Redlands....NC was a  physical team but that day Redlands matched their physicality. Set on NC side and they traveled very well but at the end they were stunned.

Yep. Great game and beating NC got Redlands into the playoffs even with a close loss to Cal Lu.

Forgot about the SCIAC getting two teams in that year. Was a strong season for your conference.

Lots of love for the 'Cats D on the All-West Region team. Congrats to them.

Too bad they're all SRs. Would have loved for them to have another year of eligibility for when the O catches up to them, which it will.
