Rough start to the season:  Northwest Conference: 2 wins, 3 losses.

And Willamette??   54-7 loss.     Something is seriously wrong in Salem.    Ten years ago they had a great team!    And only four years ago, they upset Linfield in McMinnville.

Thank you Puget Sound and Whitworth for holding up the reputation of the NWC this week.

Willamette at Oxy in a couple of weeks could be interesting.....

I haven't gone back and read yesterday's posts, but my immediate reaction is that something is wrong in Salem. This could get ugly.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Nervy win for Redlands against George Fox. Redlands was in control the majority of the game, but critical mistakes cost them and kept the game closer than it should have been. A lot to clean up, but a good win against a well coached, upper tier NWC program.
Calcat and I were in attendance.  I agree--Redlands should have won that game a lot easier than they did.  Here's my take:

It was obviously a first game for both teams but Redlands looked more polished and experienced than Fox did.
Fox's defense looked pretty stout against the run for most of the game but Redlands found success throwing the ball for much of the night.
George Fox's offense was pretty vanilla and Redland's D did a nice job of keeping them contained.  Had the Fox QB been a little more accurate on some long throws the game could have been different as the WR got behind Redlands DB several times but either couldn't make the catch or the throw was not where it needed to be.
Redland's kicker had a good leg (as we already knew) but his accuracy was off last night (he barely made one FG that bounced off the post and fell in but he hooked another attempt wide left).  Fox's kicker went down with some type of leg injury and was seen on crutches later.  They had a RB attempt to take over kicking duties but then he was seen limping and holding his calf muscle.

All in all, a pretty good game.  We joke a lot about George Fox attendance numbers but they brought a respectable crowd to this away game.

I agree Redlands should have put another 17 points on GF. One reason why they didn't was special team play wasn't very special. They clean that up and have another couple of scores. Redlands QB Plante took off running 19 times many Due to pressure from Dalzell and Riga who both are as advertised with preseason honors. Plante needs to go down and not take the hits he did when he takes off to avoid unnecessary exposure....he took some really big hits you don't want your QB taking.
GF defense can keep them in a game but offense needs to find a running game to help young QB out.
Redlands game next week at UPS might be a fun one to watch....especially for Cat fans.

Redlands should have won that by at least 17.  Dawgs looked prepared, even with the lapses that kept it close.

Oh man...Pacific gave up 9 sacks and 370 years in the air last night against Champman.  That is a total disaster for the Boxers last night in SoCal. Ugly.

How did the Cat scrimmage go yesterday?  Are the Cats ready for a team who has 2 games under their belt?
LEAVE NO DOUBT

You can't tell much from a scrimmage. Both qbs had their moments. Carrol will be hungry having 2 losses..... will be a good one to watch. I think if we stop their running game and put pressure on their qb we'll be fine.

100% agree.  Scrimmages are up and down and sometimes hard to tell. I really like our young offensive and defensive line talent. I think you'll see freshman work their way into the rotations as the year progresses.  Lots of talent in both units. Tough way to start the season at Carroll but I'm excited for the 'Cats to kick it off.
