Quote from: gren on October 22, 2018, 02:02:32 PMAs for losing to Whitworth 2 more times before Wyatt graduates, not gonna happen.

Did WC11 spill the beans on another stud QB transfer in the works. If not then...

No stud transfer just returning Stud D and with the young guys coming back I do not see the Cats losing at home to the boys from Spokane. I know we've only won 8.5 times out of 10 in our series but I like our chances next year. I'm rooting for you this year ;D

If the NWC gets a SCIAC team I would assume it is because the committee decided to make UMHB and HSU play in the first round. Which means a second round trip to Belton (most likely).

As long as HSU remains a strong pool c candidate, I don't see why the SCIAC champ won't get shipped to Belton and HSU to the Northwest. MCat is right in that it happened the last two years.

Whoever and whenever the SCIAC/NWC champ gets sent to Belton this year, I hope they come back in one piece. What that team in TX is doing to opponents this season is insane, even by their recent standards. They've always been very good, but they have taken it to another level the last few seasons.

UMHB is one game away from not giving up a single point in the entire month of October, and that includes a dominating shutout over HSU, who as their main conference rival, usually at least challenges them a little. They've given up 35 points the entire year and scored just under a million. They appear to have created an animal in Belton.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Yeah UMHB is on another level. MUC may be the only other team in the country capable of playing them within a possession or two, let alone beating them.

GFU used a platoon rotation on their QB play (2 qbs)....I don't think that's very effective. But I'm not sure why Linfield didn't put Clark Hazlett in for a few series in the 3rd or 4th quarter. Maybe he's injured, I have no idea. Maybe GT knows???

Hazlett is very healthy and eager to be given a chance.    Obvious reason why he is not playing at all.     And, I bet he will not be back for his senior year.

I'm not at all as involved in the boards as some...but, I'm curious about the obvious reason???

I'm looking forward to GT's feedback from his daily observation from practice over the past 2 1/2 months.

ME TOO

George Thompson

I rarely see practices of any team---too busy at work.   It is just my opinion, no more.    I apologize; said more than I should have.

Let's hope the Wildcat offense starts rolling---as a good start for 2019.   I sure like the defense!!

Oh c'mon, you guys pretending like Smith is the answer at QB is like me pretending Tully had a creative offensive gameplan each week.

509.... Do you remember if he was the answer last year?

(509)Rat

He didn't have to do much last year. They ran all over everyone other than UMHB and George Fox (he didn't play). He had a couple of games at the end of the season that I would compare to Dak Prescott's rookie year. Where you thought "hey this kid looks really good." And then later you realize it was the OL and runnig game (and in Linfield's case the defense) that was really propping him up.

I mean he still has the most talent around him in the league. Though Whitworth (who is also young) looked about as equal from a talent standpoint as they have since 2007. So they can still win plenty of games with him. But he's not the type of player that has taken them past the second round of the playoffs in the past, and if that is your standard then I just don't see him being enough to satisfy those expectations.

I think the same can be said for a lot of the offense this year.

MonroviaCat, agreed, but do not understand why, since LF had so many returning on offense.    2006-2008 were understandable, but this year is a puzzle.

Especially since the Stagg is being played in TEXAS.
