.... I lived on Davis Street a street over from Ford... near the brick mill and pond a few miles from the Teen Center. Pop shop was around the corner and we watched them change tires at the gas station 4 blocks west.  ::)

Wally... I lived out past Mazama H.S. on Laverne St.
I am of the Keck, Brosterhaus, Platske era.
George doesn't want to remember that though, I'm sure.

D O.C.,
Oh contra.   1967, Klamath Falls was favored to win the football Southern Oregon League, the strongest in the state back then.   However, Grants Pass and Medford had long been THE powers in the league, similar to Linfield and PLU in 80s and 90s.   Well,  Klamath came to Grants Pass on the 2nd Friday of October.       Grants Pass was on fire, had a 28-0 halftime lead and won 35-14.    They went on to win State.

However, Klamath Falls creamed us in basketball.    Those were fun times.    Small town high school football is special.

GO CATS! GO!

Big weekend for the 'Cats.  Pacific has been playing a good brand of ball the 2nd half of the season.  They pressure very well, physical, and have a solid group of receivers.  Good final test of the season for our 'Cats! Finish strong.

During my HS years, Mazama spent most of football season getting kicked around by the much, much bigger teams in the SOC.  The exception being my freshman year where we had an exceptionally talented player named Travis Olson.  That year, the Vikings won just enough games to qualify for the state playoffs.  Coincidentally, IIRC, Travis actually went to Linfield to continue his athletics career.  I can't remember if he played football there- track and field was actually the thing he excelled most at.  Mazama won the state T&F championship entirely on the perfomances of Travis and another athlete who went on to high jump at UofO.  He was phenomenal.

Screw it.....did you know that former All Conference Linfield running back, Tramaine Payne, was an all-state performer at Henley High School, which is in the Klamath County School District?

.... I had a paper route for 5 years in 1967. It earned me enough money to travel to Willamina to see the Mud Races and Corn Eating Contest. Some guy with 1 tooth won it by eating 87 ears .... cob and all in 7 minutes. On the way home we went past a football field located in Amity.  :o
