Dug deeper into every NWC team for the past 20 years.

In 2005, 3 different teams played less than 9 games. Linfield & Whitworth played 8 and lewis and clark played 5 (WHY??)

The best team in the conference is the only NWC team to never play a 10 game regular season schedule.

Pacific & Pacific Lutheran played just 8 games in 2017. Pacific Lutheran also played just 8 in '01.

Can't find any info about whitworth football from '07-'09.

Menlo looks like a team that suffered in their early NWC years, then moved to NAIA and then dropped their football program following the 2014 season. Considering they're located in the bay area, they were doomed to fail in d3 AND NAIA being the only naia football program in cali.

L&C played four that year and here's why. Also why a number of NWC schools didn't play their regular nine:

That's interesting! Thanks!

Must also be relieving for the program to know they are getting the largest incoming class ever!!!

Crunched some numbers and I think I know who will win the Oregon Cup.

Based on win-loss records between the 4 teams in the past 8 years (since that's when george fox started playing football):

#1 George Fox
#2 Pacific
#3 Lewis & Clark
#4 Wilamette

It all makes me wonder. If Wilamette has the worst win-loss record versus the other teams in the past 8 years, how did they pull off a victory over linfield in 2014? Mind you, that was a team that made it to the semifinals where they lost by a one possession margin vs whitewater who won it all!

Because Willamette only really fell off the cliff in 2015. It's been a miserable eight years, but for a full decade prior to that, the Bearcats were consistently the second or third best team in the NWC every season. They went 50-20 from 2008-14. They finished the 2008 season 11-1 and ranked fourth in the country. They beat Linfield in back to back seasons in 2007 and 2008. In 2014, they had a Gagliardi Trophy finalist at running back.

So now answer this: how did George fox, a 2014 re-startup, manage to get, in 3 different games, within 2 possessions of linfield?

Having attended every George Fox-Linfield game since GFU revived the program, I can tell you that the 12-6 game in 2017 and the 14-0 game in 2018 were both played in absolute monsoons that significantly limited the offensive output. I think my socks are still wet from the 2017 game. in the 24-17 game in 2019, Linfield certainly controlled the line of scrimmage and won the yardage battle, but had five different drives take over three minutes of clock time that ended in a punt, turnover, or field goal attempt. Also GFU has improved consistently since bringing back football. The last couple games against Linfield have been rough (I'm just pretending the 2021 game never happened), but we'll get them one day. Hopefully in my lifetime.
Go Bruins!

Whitworth won the NWC in 2006 and 2007, then finished third in 2008 (behind Willamette and Linfield) and 2009 (behind Linfield and Willamette).

It's all come back too clearly.
That season ending Bethel loss at home was embarrassing and frustrating.

Let's get it on!

Time for my annual recruit message...

Let me know if anyone is interested in participating in the Region 6 fan poll. I'll probably have at least one open spot if you're interested.

Much appreciated!
