Sidebar....has anyone heard any rumors that Eric Ainge (Ten) or Gunderson (OSU) may transfer to Linfield this comming year? Just curious....

Let's hope Brett Elliott has started a Linfield trend. I too have heard rumblings.

I'll check my agent.

Awsome season Cat's, you guy's have a lot to be proud of.

Brett Elliot, you are one competitive son of a gun.  Best QB ever at Linfield.  Good luck at the next level.

I disagree with whoever say's this years receiving core was better than last years.  Last year was the best ever with 6'4 Carter on one side and 6'3 220 Allen on the other, forget bout it.  That was any QB's dream.

CamCat: Don't hold your breath. It is my belief that a transfer (for playing purposes)  to DIII by any player with Elliott's approximate time of play in DIA (8 starts) and with at least his playing quality is truly rare.

I didn't get a chance to listen to the game yesterday, when I logged on to see the final score I must say I was shocked. Football is a funny game, sometimes the best team doesn't always win. Linfield is a class program all the way, congrats on a fine season to the players and their fans. I am sure Linfield will be back big time next year.

Just curious, why do you have to disrespect the Warhawks so much to suck up to the Linfield crowd??? Just a thought, but, why can't you believe the better team did win on Saturday???

Bluenote, it was tough not making the trip out to McMinnville this season. Hopefully the Johnnies will be heading out there next fall or the Cats will be coming to Collegeville for the playoffs. Sounds like Whitewater should be pretty tough next season.

Heading down to Orlando on January 1 to take my Badger son to see the Capital1 Bowl on January 2. Should be a great experience for both of us. I should feel right at home with all the red and white on the field. ;)

Just got home from traveling all day and I am exhausted but wanted to come on and tell the Linfield players, coaches, fans and posters, especially GHC and wildcat11, wildcat64, etc, what a remarkable time I had and how much we enjoyed their hospitality!  It was crime that one of those teams had to loose!  Your stadium was very impressive and the tailgaters and fans were very welcoming.  We even had some great tailgaters feed some of us and it was terrific.  You are right, your QB is something quite special and his play really must be witnessed to be believed.  Such a quick and accurate release!! And great recievers as well. The Wildcats are an amazing football team!! Good luck to Brett and we will be toasting him when he signs his first NFL contract!  The town, campus and people of Linfield College and McMinnville did themselves proud.  You were gracious hosts and the Warhawk family thanks you!  10 lead changes and over 1,000 yards of offense.  The greatest football game I have ever witnessed!

Congrats to Linfield on a great season and run leading back to last year's championship.  It's the power of a great program to contend year in and year out in such a competitive region. Cheers to the 'Cats on a great run, and let's hope UWW can finish what we've started-- three different West region teams in three straight years winning titles.

Agreed. But man, that is depressing looking at losing THAT many players this season.  They'll be missed.

I think that's one of the hardest things to take about this loss. When an NFL team loses, you know you'll be able to see them next year. Or most of them anyway. With college ball, they're gone.  Like losing family members...  :'(

I'd have to second this, RFB. You weren't there to judge if Linfield was the better team or not. True, the Wildcats had more impressive talent at a few positions (and have had one heck of a run the past four years), but I'm not sure you can say the better team lost. Whitewater is the real deal. They are hungry and talented. Their coaches did an incredible job with schemes and playcalling. Their balanced attack (RB, TE, WRs, QB) and defensive pressure proved to be the difference in one of the best games I've ever witnessed. Scary thing is while Linfield loses a ton of talent with this senior class, many of Whitewater's studs are juniors or younger (the RB is a soph.). Winning a huge playoff game like that on the road is quite a feat. My hat is off to the Warhawks.

Linfield faithful,
Remember that drive you had two years ago in McMinnville in a tight game versus PLU. Your running game took about 6 of the final 7 minutes off the clock and the drive ended in a game clinching field goal. Seems like that's what you needed on Saturday. The defense did what they could in turning the Warhawks away a couple of times late in the game. Too bad that offensive balance never materialized this year. Even though the passing game featured such an impressive display of talent, the lack of balance hurt when it mattered. Locey played to his strengths with four and five wides all game. Even though the passing game got you back in front after falling behind by 10, it didn't provide the knockout punch that was needed at the end. The team has been far too good to be second-guessing the staff, though, so I'm not trying to go there. Darn fine run, Linfield! Unless UW-W has a little bit of a let down, that was probably the national title game.

I was there. I'm not convinced that UWW was the best team. Hungry, yes, they are the real deal. Linfield still scored 41 and didn't play their best. UWW got the breaks in the game. Bottom line is that was one of the best if not the best game I've seen. And I hope that UWW wins it all

(excellent analysis clipped)

....I really hope the young kids in the program will follow the path that has be laid by the last couple group of Seniors.  They excelled on and off the field and help re-established Linfield in the upper levels of small college football.  Thank you!

Thanks for the great post, WC11.  Thanks to a great bunch of seniors that got Linfield to the very top.  It's just disappointing their career had to end a couple games too early.  :-[

I know the Cats will continue to be successful, but it's hard to imagine replacing all that talent.  That's a special class.

d-train,

Keep livin in your own world out there.  The fact is the East, South and North have been disrespected by the West all year.  This is just another comment to throw on the fire.  Everyone seems to think the Linfield-UWW game was for the national championship last weekend.  Your teams and fans should just keep thinking that.  Outside of the West, where the rest of the world resides games are still played on the field and UWW has not won anything yet.
