Here are some season ending articles from the Oregonian and Salem Statesman Journal:

excerpts:

---Brett was the catalyst," Locey said. "We had some great players to surround him with -- Casey, Brandon, George, Riley Jenkins and Thomas Ford -- and to add him to that mix, well, they were just fun to watch."

And great to be around, the coach said.

"He was a ton of fun," Locey said. "His enthusiasm for the game was a big intrinsic motivator for the whole team, and he had a great sense of humor

---"I think the thing that a lot of people will miss will be the fast break game we played," the coach said. "The offense, the defense, the special teams. This was the full-meal deal."

excerpts:

---"It's been a wild ride," said senior cornerback Chris Boock. "We should have won at Saint John's(2003). Last year, we knew we could do this. We felt it was an attainable goal. We were in Whitewater's shoes then, not favored, but everyone knew we were dangerous."

---"The seniors before them helped set a legacy," (Jay Locey) said. "The tradition kept growing, and the freshmen were focused. These seniors were 35-0 in Northwest Conference play. That is unbelievable. It's never happened at Linfield."

---Senior Brandon Hazenberg, who played on offense and defense with a sore shoulder he hurt in the second quarter, was a vivid example of the elite level of play for nonscholarship Division III. He caught 14 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown and made two interceptions.

"It was disappointing to lose that game," he said. "But it was also most exciting because it went up and down. I had a complete, total ball. Playing in front of our fans was a great experience."

---The coach said the Wildcats improved during the season despite the pressure of trying to repeat.

"Expectations were high, but it's great to have those expectations," he said. "Our guys matured because of it and remained focus. We just came up a little short."

"McKechnie is one of the more underrated players," Locey said

#28 = Big time hits

Foss

Yes he was. #28 was a stud. I'll never forget him picking off that ball last year againt Rowan, I think, with a cast on one hand and taking it in for the TD. We're going to miss him.

A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

DenSLA, what you don't want Pat to "take his ball and go home" on your board? ;D Everybody's a little stressed over there. I thinks it's settled down a little now...... ::)

It's those guys' loss, frankly. Someone gets pissy at me twice in a matter of weeks about me not responding to something fast enough? I am not at KR's beck and call. I have a day job, a family, and about 200 conversations to monitor. I am just not going to be able to check the MIAC board hourly to satisfy the beer crowd and I won't change my life to do it.

I (we) don't have a problem with that.

We hope your health holds out and we get to follow the season on d3.com because now that we are sitting home this is the only place we can learn about the competition.

Pat.... Thanks for the chance to be on your site. Many forget that they, you, me,  have lives outside of football I think.
With out this site I wouldn't even know who Wesley is or from!

one final question......( to anyone)   when Brett throws 67 pass's do you think his arm gets tired? Thats alot of throws?

I'll be back............. but Happy holidays to all in D3 land!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

wildcat11,
Thanks for the articles.  You have a very talented and classy group of players!  I am impressed with not only the quality of their play but also the quality of their character!  Good luck to the Seniors and with the future of the program!

downtown48,

I see you've made a slight disclaimer to your signature.
As great as victory is, defeat does give us a little humility.  A little humility is good but nothing replaces the sweet smell and feel of victory.
