The only sound was the clanging of the rope on the flagpole. It was both eerie and bleak.

Are you sure you didn't hear the sound of TAPS or the sound of equipment being turned-in!! LOL

No, but I did hear the clanging of the National Championship rings as the players grabbed the door handle to enter the athletic complex...can't say the same at your place quite yet...   ;)

SeoulGuy

What do you mean by "my place?" I am not a WW fan!!!

pdawg,

That was a great article you wrote.   The week after we lost to St. Johns in both 2002 and 2003 were very sad and disappointing.    Same now; maybe more so.

But you really pointed out so well how Linfield is good year after year.   Yes, we WILL be back with a very good team next year.    And the next year, etc.    Linfield football is so special.

We just have to remember that the final 8 playoff teams are usually VERY tough to beat.   Look how many Div. III teams never make it that far.     4 straight years to the final 8.    Linfield should be very proud indeed.

In the future, the players will change but the tradition and coaching won't.

GO CATS, GO!
GO CATS! GO!

Thanks for the clip, WC11.

I think it was last night that Ron Pivo on Channel 8 made a reference to Elliott not getting enough write-in votes for the Heisman. Linfield has been getting pretty good coverage from the Portland TV stations this year, the best I can recall. When we had our run in the 80s, we didn't get this much media attention.
We even hear about Linfield on some of the Portland radio stations.

We WILL be a force to be reckoned with next year.

Very lonely sound...however, the flagpole did indicate it was ready for next season, just like the rest of us!
I'm not done with this years 'cats. We have the Aztec Bowl, Hula Bowl and Charity Bowl around the corner.  :) then we can't forget the NFL draft

Relax, just having a little fun - sorry you feel so sensitive to those kind of comments  :-*
I'll remember your advice if there is a next time.

I should have mentioned, it was very well put, poetic in a way. You set the scene very well. Nice job!!

O.K.  I've come to some level of acceptance that the Cats season is over (except for some of the players in allstar games and in Europe).  I'm ready to look to next season.  Clearly the Cats are losing a tone of talent, Elliot, Allen, Hazenberg, Olsen, Keck....etc.  Anybody have an idea or want to throw out ideas on who might be replacing those guys.  Clearly a lot will happen between now and next season but some of you who are close to the team could probably make an educated guess.  I can't wait to see what the reloaded Linfield Team will look like! :)
Go Cats!

D O.C.

Remember...there were high hopes and rankings for this year's team because of all the playing time so many guys got in the 2004 season; experience against many different kinds of teams.
LINFIELD will definitely miss a ton of it's SENIORS.

SALUTE!

LINFIELD reloads as Wildcat11 has reminded us. Many guys not on the 52 play-off roster are capable of filling vacated positions. They played a lot of minutes the last two years. There has to be balance so a couple of good running backs will help. I'm not looking for an air circus again.

Will we go undefeated to get into the play-offs with home field advantage? Is that what people want to know already? That's an uphill battle.

What happened to Laswell...seemed to have disappeared after the first 2/3rds of the season.  Did he get injured and can we expect to see him on the field next year?

I can't speak for others but I just want to hear about some of the guys that will be stepping up next year!  I know Linfield will bring a strong team  next season and I'm getting pumped to learn about them.  I loved this years team but I look forward to the Cats proving (as they have done in the past) that it's the program, coaching, tradition, etc..NOT ONLY a few extremely talented players (e.g. "Where would you be without Brett Elliot" comments from other posters!).  For instance do we think Benzel will take over the QB duties or will J-Lo hand the ball over to one of the younger QBs?
Go Cats!
