Using a previous year's game as a comparison is a bit of a stretch since both of these teams changed a lot between years.  That is almost like saying there was some connection between MUC playing WW in 2005 and 2003 after all it is only one year longer!

Joel,

The Coaching staff at Capital didn't change over the past 14 months...did it? ;)  Also, do you think there might be the possible thought that the MUC players were felt like Capital didn't have a chance because....when was the last time Capital beat Mount?

LK is a GREAT coach but you would have to admit there could be the slighest of chances that the team might have not be at its sharpest vs. a team that they've owned for so many years now.

I do remember in 2003 when Linfield slapped Redlands 49-10 to open the 2003 season but then Redlands came in for the first round of the playoffs and played the 'Cats tough with a 31-23 game.  Yes, Redlands improved during the season but I didn't think the 'Cats were at their sharpest vs. a team they've handled a number of times.

I know that many MUC fans probably didn't think Capital would put up such a battle in the North finals...maybe the MUC players thought the same thing?

Completely Wrong.  I think everyone at MUC KNEW that Capital would come in tough.  I think Mount played there very best that day and clawed there way to a win against the second or third best team in the country.

Now has Mount ever let down against a team they should beat and lost?  ONU this year is a game they should have won but ONU played greatr and MUC only played good.  If you look over their history they have done very well when they were supposed to romp they romp.  WHen they have a close game they also have always come prepared.  They got beat in the Stagg by SJU a couple years ago in a game that probably should have been closer but there are not many examples of this.  LK gets the guys ready to play and they do not seem to overlook anyone which is a tough thing to do week in week out.

hscoach....I started to read it and then I fell asleep after the 1st or 2nd paragraph. That sounds like something Wildcat11 would write if he was bored!

Anyway....Tux...why r you stirring it up so much with the Capital people? There are 3-4 teams in our league who would demolish them...Willamette, Whitworth, PLU and UPS. And L&C/Menlo may even have a chance, you never know on  a given Saturday...

Wildcat11....jeez louise...that was the best tape yet of Bruce A!!!! BRING MORE TAPES OFF ALL THE "CATS!!!! Including Gig Harbor's little puppy!

"Happy Holiday Everyone".......and avoid Walmart.

I knew we wouldn't have to wait long for another ridiculous comment from Bluenote.

Capital would have beat everone in the NWC this year except Linfield who they would probably have played very even.

Pat Coleman

I think he's just trying to get a rise out of you.

I'm looking forward to getting to watch Brett Elliot on TV with the D-1 guys in the Hula Bowl.  Congrats to Brett!  The only odd thing I saw was that he's on the East squad.  Better East Squad than not invited!

Pat Coleman

Yeah, I thought that East thing was odd too. Oh well.

D O.C.

Looks like I'm rooting for anything 'east' for the first time in my life.

WAIT! That's not quite true!  I did have to root for the Yankees when Scott Brosius went there.

Wildcat11 I thoroughly enjoyed your MUC blog.  AND I laughed out loud at dtrain's therapy suggestions. I climbed the fence and jumped in the old Mac pool with a wetsuit on for some laps one winter. I might suggest it as a regimen for you. But, hey!, not until you can post a LINFIELD qb video.

Hula Bowl committee didn't feel there was a decent QB in the east to match up with the west's so they figured if they placed Elliot in the east it would even things out.

Merry Christmas to all! :)
