I think we should get bluenote to be incharge of the" bringback the band "campaign!

Blue.........what do you think?
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

I agree. We have to bring back the band. Heck, we can probably find enough of you alums and volunteers to bring it back. Okay Bluenote, what do ya say. :)

Is BE scheduled to play in that other Bowl from Las Vegas? thought I read something about it in the paper. If so when is it and is it on T.V. (think its called the All-American Bowl)

Checked it out more and its called the Las Vegas All-American Classic. 29 players from the 2005 game are on NFL rosters. I did not see Brett on either roster so I guess he went with the Hula Bowl instead. Did I read where Casey Allen was going down to watch him in Vegas or was I dreaming? Anyway, everybody have a safe New Year.

Happy New Year All NWC Posters......

I vote YES for the "Bring Back The Band" Campaign....the Catdome just doesn't seem the same with the piped in music.  The piped in Linfield fight song just doesn't have the same flavor or get the fans in the same singing mood.

After all Whitewater even has a full fledged marching band entertaining at their halftimes....if we can't get to a marching band, like most small 2-A high schools in Oregon...then we should at least field a pep band at the Catdome....after all we were able to have live music at the Catdome for 49 of the 50 winning seasons with a lot less students than we have today!

Another YES vote for bringing back the pep band. I missed them this year. That recorded music was awful the first game! It got a little better after that, but geez, can't we do any better than that?

Don't we have a good music department anymore? Isn't there an interest in a pep band? What's the deal? I know there were community members who played in it at times, too. I don't care who plays. I just wish we had them back.

Swede would play in the pep band. Give him a triangle. Bring back the band

Linfield is under construction with a brand new state of the art music building on campus.....perhaps the administration will get the message and have a Catdome practice room in the new building.....on second thought I'm not certain the quality of the band would improve if the alumni were to practice!

If you want a band at Linfield football games, you need to convince AD Scott Carnahan.    He is the key.

No band is just not in the spirit of college football.      BRING BACK THE BAND!

A pep band helps complete the atmosphere. Bring it back. Are there good high school marching bands in the area? Perhaps they could be invited to perform at halftime. St. Mary's did this before they dropped football. It's just one more way to expose prospective students to Linfield.

Wildcat'64

Great Idea about inviting High School bands in the area to perform.  I think the reason they cancelled the band this year  was because they were able to sell the seats in the reserved (covered) seating area and that is great that we can sell out.  However, there is was open seating in the non reserved seating around the home end zone which could be used for an 80 -100 seat high school marching band.  Since there are only 4-5 home games (plus hopefully a few playoff games) they could rotate the invitations amongst high schools in the area and would really do a lot for the total college Game Day experience.
A great recruiting tool as well as more fans for the Game Day because the parents will follow to watch their kids perform at the Catdome....more revenue from ticket sales from the following parents. If you get another 200 fans following the "guest" band x 5 games X $5 = $5,000 in additional revenue to the athletic program plus a huge plus to the Game Day experience.  More fans = better overall experience = more potential students for Linfield = another 50 year Streak!

You da man, Wildcat '64, and you, too, cawcdad! That's a great idea.
Actually, I think they moved the band the year before, as they used to sit across from us, on the 50. Then they decided to move them them down to less desirable seats. Now they're gone completely. We liked having them right next to us. Having them farther away was okay. Having them gone, with all that canned music this year, sucked.

Mac, Newberg and Amity have bands. I don't know about any other schools, but those would be a start. The idea that parents would come to the games, too, is good thinking.

O.K. I'm with you guys, bring in a different High School each week. I can only see +'s from this also.

Bluenote, Mrs Tux and I played in the high school pep band, Great memories. Blue and I played in the Linfield pep band, I for just 1 year, but blue for all 4. The High School band was bigger & better, but atleast Linfield had a band then.
With the New Music Building coming along I think its a must to put together a pep band for the games, If not I say go with the High School plan.

To my new Capital friends....I really don't care if you smite me, from over +20 to now 0, But at least have the guts to post something.. At Linfield I was taught to stand up for what I believe In!

                          HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
