Your 2 cents is always welcome here. :)

Swede,

Guess you get the first 'signing bonus' for the Centennial High School Marching Band......I'll bet they will be able to play a mean "On Wisconsin"ooops I mean the Linfield Fight Song.

Keep on recruiting and we'll have  a great halftime show for each home game in 2006.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Welcome, Wildcat3!
We're glad to have you here, but we're going to miss watching you play!

Welcome back, Olinemom. Thank you both for the band support. The more we talk, the more good ideas we hear, like the club aspect, the credit idea, and Pat's idea of having non-music majors who might just enjoy playing at the games.

It's good that we're talking about all this now, while there's time to get it done before next fall.  Most of the posters know a pep band would add to the total game day experience, but to hear from one of our best players that the players would like to have the band back, too, really clinches it.

The Catdome must have a band.
Two words:  THE STREAK

Hey Bandmembers:
I think before anything "official" is attempted, it would be wise to be organized and rational. Since we all support Linfield College in many ways, this "band-like" movement should only be positive in it's approach. If the local posters want to contact me via e-mail, I would facilitate a meeting on campus between the posters involved and help create a "game plan" before going to the real decision-makers involved. Just putting that out for the good of the order.

bluenote

Pat...those are all good comments, I think you've boiled it down to reality and common sense. Thanks for your input!

pdawg...that's great that you would put out the effort to facilitate the process on campus. I would be willing join in the discussion....

Wecome to the board. I missed you last week when you came in to see the kids. Glad to see you sighned the K.O.B.
poster. Think we should call that wall the "Wall of Fame". :)

As for the pep band I can't beleive the college is against it. However, do we really care to listen to the last few versions of the pep band.

You all know I am for bringing back a band, a good band but is e-mailing people going to do it? The college indeed maybe facing more difficulties than we think. I'd say the best way to get something done would be to sit down with the right people and do some brainstorming 'cause there's sure plenty of ideas here.

We could have bluenote and tuxguy represent us with #3
explaining what the pep band meant to him. Being employed by the college Pdawg could help facilitate the brainstorming meetings.

In case anyone cares, Centennial High School marching band may be available.

                 BRING BACK A (GOOD) BAND

Swede,
It is the banner of fame. Didn't you see Drew Carney's auto on it? LOL. It was nice for Wildcat 3 to come out and visit the children. They are welcome anytime.

Sounds like you're making some progress on the Band.  Just some advice so you're not spinning your wheels on one point though.  I used to work for a professional hockey team and my boss now does ticket sales with an NBA team and high school parents in general don't buy tickets to see their kids play.  The kids can drive in high school, so they drive themselves to the events.  We would have high school bands, choirs, etc. scheduled to sing the anthem for the very reason you're all thinking, to sell tickets, but their parents don't bring them.  Now the NBA ticket price may be a factor but we were offering $8 tickets for the hockey, and they still didn't bite.  A high school band would be cool still and get you the atmosphere you're looking for, but don't be fooled into thinking they'll sell you any tickets.  If you want to sell tickets, you schedule an elementary school or junior high band or choir to sing the national anthem before the game.  Now when we did that, we sold a ton of tickets.

How 'bout Andy Collins coming in fourth team behind Clark from Whitworth.  About time Clark got some pub.  I've yet to see him in person, but from what I've heard, he's pretty fun to watch.

To Collins credit, he's one tough hombre and I felt bad for him this year at the Catdome.  He had NOTHING to work with on O.  I was suprised when I saw they had a receiver that was getting AA looks.  I didn't see one player on offense or defense that stood out in McMinnville this year.

Tuxguy

wildcat 3,    great to see you join us! Thanks you for your input on the Band.  As one who used to play at the games, it makes my day to know that players like yourself enjoy what the band does. Blue and I had lots of fun, and to know we had a part in the streak is great!(maybe alittle stretch) but what the heck!
count me in on the discussion............

wildcat#3....Thanks for the memories!!!!

I have just heard via e-mail rom Dr. Faun Tiege.  Dr. Tiege stressed to me the importance of live music at all college events, especially football.

Dr. Tiege sounded as one could very well be in place this fall, but the success would vary from year to year depending upon the availability of performers. Dr. Tiege noted in the past the concerns as to seating capacity as well as the availability of performers.

Dr. Tiege mentioned a student led band is in the works.

I would think we should all thank Dr. Tiege and let her know how grateful we are. In addition we can perhaps express our thanks in the form of T-shirts for the band. Heck, we can foot the bill for pizza and donuts in the 3rd quarter can't we?

My printer is broken so can someone go back and copy all our ideas if needed.

Guys, I think we should get off giving Pdawg and Beancounter all that bad karma. Yes, I am guilty of doing it but that was stupid on my part. Wish Pat could take it back for me.

When it comes to karma "LEAVE NO CAT BEHIND"  :)
