Cat #4....thanks for the tip on Ed Langsdorf......

For the rest of you, here is the link

Now, on this Bill Curry business.  Please...don't get on the guy for stating the obvious that d3 corners are no where near as good as d1, d1-AA or d2 corners.   Brett made a lot of hay passing on Willamette's 5'8" corners to 6'2" guys like Carter and Allen.  Hurting the feelings of the myopian d3football posters does not make one an idiot.

Nice article on Brett and Derek Turbin

Auburn coach Tuberville said Elliott has "good technique and fundamentals."

"You can tell he's been coached very well at both schools," Tuberville said. "We like the way he releases the ball. He throws the out routes really well. He's accurate and he's got good footwork. Quarterbacks, to me, in a game like this have to rely on their fundamentals. Obviously, he's sound all the way around."

Good to see Coach Langsdorf ... by the way, the only human that speaks in Dolby Stereo.

anybody at espn2 do any research, elliott played d1. yea, yea , yea the kids are bigger and faster but this guy has been around the block. maybe espn2 guys just make stuff up.

i was however disappointed to see the all white helmet of elliott. can someone please spring for some extra stickers when you send your kids to the hula bowl.

the anouncers were 3rd or 4th string at best for the hula bowl. so maybe they were mad they didn't get the monday night gig.

The announcers especially Bob Davie don't know sh*t. Some of his comments were just ignorant when it came to commenting on the level of play at the DIII level. His knock on B.E. not having talented receivers at the DIII level was idiotic at best. No wonder he is announcing instead of directing a top flight program like Notre Dame.

I'm posting this without reading the rest of the board so I'm probably late to the discussion but I agree wholeheartedly with you on the idiotic announcers.  When Elliot threw his interception it was all about how he's not used to that sort of speed (on the defensive players) and he's never seen that sort of talent at the DIII level, blah blah blah.  Well, the very next series when the DI QB threw one, I noticed he didn't say anything about him not being used to that sort of speed at Missouri.  No excuses whatsoever.

Idiot.

You can say that again!!  Those announcers were so clueless.  They couldn't even announce the coaches of the year with the appropriate level.  I guess they couldn't read either.  Or perhaps they hadn't done their Homework.  Whatever, they were an embarrassment, that's for sure.

I guess the only way that ESPN could have made anyone happy on this board would have been to spend every possible moment of air time talking about Brett Elliott; how the receivers that he threw to at Linfield were all better than any receiver on any division one roster.....and on and on.   I mean, we have pretty tender feelings if we get bent up on what announcers say at a football game that didn't get a 0.1 rating.

Funny stuff......

Funny Beancounter ... read the D-I boards some time (especially OSU) and they hate every announcer that ever called a game, every OSU player is a first-team All-American (then why are they 5-6?), and the announcers just don't understand us!

Be happy Linfield was represented at the Hula Bowl, and if Elliott and Allen are worthy of big-time accolades, they'd be going to the combine or be getting drafted.

The hand-wringing that will go on here when Elliott doesn't get drafted will be interesting. "Hey, he's better than that Big 10/SEC/Pac-10 QB, etc.

Bingo WOU Fan!!

It is like people go out of their way to get offended by something.   Somehow there is an expectation of the Hula Bowl braodcast this year (and the Stagg Bowl last year) was going to be like some public relations tape with nothing but wonderful and positive things said about Linfield.....and only Linfield.  And when the expectation, no matter how unrealistic the expectation is doesn't come about, somebody has to scream at somebody.    This board seems like a perfect outlet for it all.

While I'm pulling for Brett Elliott like everyone else, I think I have a bit of understanding that there is a total disconnect between what Bob Davie says and Brett's NFL draft possiblilties.  As if there will be a NFL personnel guru in April who will have notes on Brett filled with the opinions of Bob Davie.  Pleeeze!

Another quote from you:
So now everyone has fallen to the idea that if you disagree with someone on this largely uninfluential board, you had better shutup.....oh dear!!!

Question:
Are you now telling those of us who have a differing opinion from yours and woufan that we should shut up?

Tiny LINFIELD has been sort of a badge of honor back before Sports Illustrated used it in the early '70's for an article on how Rutschman coached from the box on top of the grandstand instead of down on the field.

I think I actually have a copy of that issue of SI...but it's buried somewhere in my storage back in the states...I am sure it will be worth millions in the future 8)
In fact I saw the Monday Night game when the dude steps out from the sideline and trips our man streaking down the sideline.  That one is stored in my brain so I will just have to wait until the technology is available to record that one....check that...I mean, play it back.

No, I just think he's being a realist. The whole Bob Davie conspiracy thing is hilarious. And you just know if Brett doesn't make the NFL, there will be another conspiracy theory.

I like Brett and think he's great, I'm glad he's graduating; tired of the constant worship of the guy.

Nobody's saying the announcing crew had to kiss Elliot's feet.  But they didn't have to go out of their way to make a big deal out of saying he's from a DIII school.  Did they ONCE say that it's impressive for a DIII kid to be here, competing on level footing with the "big" D-I schools?  No.

Instead, when he makes a mistake, they go out of their way to insult not just Elliot but every DIII kid out there. That's the issue.
{Clever sign-off goes here.}
