KennethK,

It's so much fun to jump on you since you're such an easy, consistent target.

So let's see Point scores 12 points at home last week Vs Hardin Simmons yet they're going to fly into the Catdome on Saturday 1900 miles from home and more than double their offensive performance?  Huh?

Just a warning.  You are a welcome guest to my Sky Box but you'll find out quickly it's a fantasy free zone.

CC:  It's not like the Pointers played some bottum feeder in their opener.  Harden Simmons is ranked number four and their D returned all but three starters from a team that went 10 and 0 in 2004 regular season.  SP has had a couple weeks to work out some offensive kinks.  I'm thinking Harden Simmons D might have the edge on the Cats defense which is why I give them the 28 points.  May I ask one question....does Brett call his own plays?

beancounter

GHC....look forward to seeing you and Mojo tomorrow.

Here is the problem with predicting the score of tomorrows game...or any other Linfield game.  One never knows how many points an opponent might score in garbage time.  So Linfield gets ahead 45-7....and it's time to send in the young 'uns.  In the meantime, the opponents first team O scores on Linfield's scout team defense a couple of times....and then the score looks respectable.....and a guy like Kenneth will look at the final and think that the defense is in bad shape and otherwise spin like crazy.    When I look at the games of other teams in d3, I head right to the box score and the play by play so I can look at the flow of the game at a minimum and not rely upon one line in a newspaper.

When it comes to this stuff, you have to look at what we "know" and don't know.  What we know is that in 14 football games, Brett Elliott has had one half of football he would probably like to have back.  Nobody has slowed down the Linfield offense for long.  Some teams have done better than others....PLU and UMHB come to mind.   But none have been successful for long.

And really Kenneth....how the heck can you know anything about Linfield's defense since you haven't seen them??

D O.C.

Need a confirmation on my information that recently retired LINFIELD president Vivian Bull is in charge of Lewis and Clark's attempt to right their football program. !?
She told me some months ago she and her husband were off for Africa upon retirement.

DenSLA will be outside & inside the Catdome Saturday. What? no Elks?

To my knowledge,  Dr. Bull is not "in charge" of the committee, but has been asked to be involved with it.

Lever Street

Great Post Beancounter.

I'd like to see Elliott's stats through 14 games, pro-rated to 4 quarters.  He's rarely played a 4th quarter, and has sat many 3rd quarters.  This 50-point Cat offense would average 75 poitns per game if they left the starters in.  Elliott probably has 8 TD passes for every 4 quarters played while a 'Cat.

As Beancounter stated, the final scores are sometimes 49-24, where the Cats led 42-3 at half and put in the young'ns.

Tomorrow Cats will lead at halftime, 35-7.
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

LB:  The 28 points does take into account what you call the garbage time.  2ndly..we all know how incredible Linfield's offense has been (off the charts).  The defense is a bit of a mystery.  It is hard for a defense to shine when the offense blows away opponents by half time.  I am sure the Cat D is loaded with outstanding athletes..the back-ups probably start for many teams.  The starters did allow 35 pts through 3/4's last year at SP and UMHB was able to move the ball in the Stagg Bowl.  My point  to CC is Harden Simmons could prove to have one of the best defenses in the country.  We'll have to check the stat chart in a few weeks.

Pezcat..... bring the GAS! That would be great, and yes, the meat on a stick will  be served up at the tailgate and on the field tomorrow! .......The Butcher is ready!!!........."GO CATS" 50in05
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!

UMHB was able to move the ball at the Stagg Bowl??  Linfield's D held them to 21....they had scored 38 the week before at Mount Union.    And when you talk about last years game at UWSP...you're looking at the wrong defense.  Try looking at the one that not only shut out Rowan in the playoffs, but outscored their offense as well.

Ya know Kenneth...I can almost hear the index cards fluttering around in your head all the way out here in Oregon.  Keep trying....maybe one of them will make sense!

KennethK

So LB..I never did see your prediction for tomorrow..garbage time include..what's the final score?

Cats 49-17,..... No tall grass  this year .  The turf is fast and ready,...... Annnnnnd  their Off.

Now that I'm officially retired from Linfield football I thought i best get on and talk a little smack.  Haven't had a chance to see the Defending National Champs this year but I don't think there should be a problem this year at the catdome on our field unlike last year on the Pointers cow pasture where the grass came up to our knees, nice try pointers.  Good luck alums at the game on monday, take it easy on those other young pups,

Thinking can be dangerous.  Remember when decimation is inevitable just relax and accept it.  :o

Come on just put your toe in the pot.  The water's fine,  Once you get in get relaxed, kick back, it will take all your cares away and you won't feel a thing.

BTW what could you possibly be expecting to happen in Spokane on Oct. 8th?

Looking forward to the tailgate tomorrow morning with Purple Flag, GHC, Tuxguy and the rest of the crew.  The train leaves Oregon City around 8am.

We've faced mobile QBs before and had some trouble, but in the end there will be no answer for the Butcher!!
