I've heard the Wildcats have lost coach Lemon's son Bubba to DeBarry and the Air Force Academy but is only verbal at this stage. I'm still hoping he stays close to home. :'(

There must be a mad smiter running around. ::) I haven't posted in a few days and my karma dropped 1. Ah, such are the vagaries of anonimity and the internet. Whoever it is needs to be careful. See link  ;D

Yeah, I was wondering that too.  I didn't think I was posting anything all that offensive but my karma goes from 22 to 10 (as of this posting) in the span of a week.

I was under the impression that when one gets karma priviliges, you get to see who's dinging you but from your questions here, I guess that's not true.

Geeze!  After reading that article, I think half of us here now qualify as scofflaws--if we didn't already.

Someone had posted this link (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=55344) to a scouting page onBrett a while ago.  It seems to me he was originally rated as the 17th QB.  Anyone else remember that?  If that's the case, he's squeaked up four notches to #13.

I'm not member of that scouting site, so I can't poke around it for more info.

Okay, well, apparently I CAN open some links on there.

Interesting.  Check out this list of 2006 QBs. (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/players.php?genpos=QB&draftyear=2006&sortby=tsxpos&order=ASC).  Kinda cool to see our Brett in there with the "big boys."

At #13, he's right above D.J. Schockley of Georgia and just below Paul Pinegar of Fresno State.  He's way ahead of Marcus Vick, who is at a lowly 25 and yet will probably still end up on some NFL team's roster...

He's three spots behind Kellen Clemens.  Even without the busted ankle, I probably would have taken Elliot over Clemens.  Clemens had a decent year that one year but I was not impressed with him this year. He looked rattled to me.

But what do I know.

Here is an interesting link. Originally posted on the Iowa board.NCAA Football Attendance Figures. It is a pdf file so you need acrobat reader to see them. The Cats were #4 in the nation for D-III teams and the NWC #5 of the D-III conferences.

Obviously some rankings of players for the draft are more likely to be accurate than others. At any rate there tends to be quite a bit of shifting in each ranking (if the ranker is keeping up) as more information is gained and the draft date approaches. If Elliott is ranked at least as high as the #13 QB by most of the NFL teams themselves (the rankings of the individual teams vary from team to team and from team to independent ranker at least a little and often a lot) on draft day, probably he will be chosen in the draft - but late. With respect to the information on the ranked QBs at the above referenced website, note how much slower Elliott's reported 40 time is than almost all of the other QBs. Between now and draft day he needs to improve substantially (by .15 seconds would be good - of course by .25 would be better) the perception of his 40 time, or he very much risks being regarded by many teams as a slew footed QB who will be poor at avoiding the NFL rush. And especially for a DIII player that type of negative is very damaging.

Does anyone have any news/scoops on the new class of recruits for Linfield?

Any news of transfers?

Linfield's Top Ten Over the Past Ten
[/size][/b]

Below are the top ten moments captured of Wildcat football over the past ten years (1996-2005).  These moments are a collection of game/season changing plays, a whole game itself, or just a game event that either had a huge impact (positive/negative) on a season or the Wildcat overall program.  A panel of 20 former Linfield players, staff members and fans voted on these great Linfield moments.

Click here for the honorable mentions: Top Ten Honorable Mentions

This week moments 10-7 are revealed:

In another epic shootout against Southern Oregon, NCAA #7 Linfield stopped NAIA #5 SOU's NAIA title hopes before the season gained traction with a 47-42 victory.  Linfield minus their defensive captain and team leader, Safety Ray Lions would comeback and stop an SOU squad that featured 3 future NFL prospects.  The game would launch another perfect regular season for Linfield and send SOU's season into a tailspin.

In a heart stopping second round playoff game, a 31-yard field goal by Garrett Wales as time expired lifted No. 3 Linfield (11-0) past No. 5 Wartburg (11-1) in a 23-20 victory at Willamette's McCulloch Stadium.  The Knights came back from a 20-6 4th quarter deficit to tie the game with 1:21 remaining.  However, the 'Cats drove 59 yards with the final possession to set up Wales game winning kick.

On a picture perfect December day, Linfield (13-0) picked a great time to play a perfect game in the pasting (52-0) of the Rowan Profs (10-3) in the 2004 National Semifinals.  In front of a packed and super charged crowd, the eventual national champions gave their home fans the ultimate display of team play in handing the "Beast from the East" their first shutout loss since 1995.

The truly epic but heartbreaking 44-41 defeat matched #1 vs #2 at Linfield's Catdome.  Both teams went toe-to-toe, Whitewater (13-0) using an outstanding balanced offense while Linfield (10-1) lit up the sky with their aerial attack.  The Warhawks would punch in the game winner with 42 seconds remaining and Linfield's last gasp fell short.

Thanks loads for the clips! :)

That was some selective film editting!  :D
I was at that Whitewater game and I don't recall the 'Cats holding Beaver to 40 yards and winning by 4 scores. Oh, what's that...not exactly how it went down?

D O.C.

d...you can see right through your old adversary right away!

I was thinking after all that video it should have ended on the WW winning td just for balance. Sort of a wham, wham, wham wham, ploop.

Some hard hitting on both sides I see at a second glance.

Doesn't even hurt to take a second glance nowadays.

Johnnie Red

Wildcat11, I can only assume two of the top ten moments for the Cats over the past ten years will be when the Johnnies traveled to McMinnville in `02 and the Cats made it to Collegeville in `03. It would certainly be alright with the Johnnies if you want to consider going back in time a few more years to 1965 and making the SJU-Linfield game in the NAIA national championship one of the top ten moments over the past forty years. Speaking of `03, can you say 3-0? :D
