After reading Foss' post about how this Linfield team is "very hungry", I'm hoping that d-train might chime in and tell us how hungry PLU is this year, that the Bearcat faithful might tell us how hungry Willamette is...etc.  There have to be statistics out there that tell us how hungry a team is compared to other years.....

Spirit, you're right.   If Kiper came here, he might find out that Elliott is "hungrier" than Clemens.....despite the fact that Elliott played his college ball much closer to Coyote's Buffet out at Spirit Mountain Casino (where the key decision is never to "hit 16, stay on 17"....but whether to have one or two slabs of prime rib......)

OK.....I don't want to get on one guy, but I get amused when I read fans talk about how hungry their teams are....aren't they all?   In thirty years, I can recall only two or three Linfield teams that had extraordinary motivation in the off season.....the last was the "Leave No Doubt" team of 2002 after not making the 2001 playoffs.

Thanks to Pat for the nice feature on BE...A few days we'll know the answer but I know every Cat fan across the land is wishing Brett "Best of Luck" this weekend.

I know he wants to get drafted but honestly he'd be better off not getting drafted.  Then he'll have his choice of teams that he thinks he'll have the best shot of getting on a roster and he could get a little more compensation than the plane ticket and bag of chips he'd get as a 7th rounder once the team owns you...

LBC,

Would the Linfield faithful say that there were some differences in motivation in '04 (coming off a second straight playoff loss to St. John's) when compared to preparing as the defending champ for the '05 season? While the 'hunger' thing is quite fishy at times and very hard to pin down, there is something tangible there. I've mentioned before about playing on a '98 PLU team that was less talented/experienced but far more motivated than the '97 team. It made a huge difference.

Granted Reggie Bush has a much better leg up in the NFL draft today than BE but can you believe this fiasco he and his family got into?  Welcome to the big $, big egos, big risk, big misunderstanding, leading to big messes for some hot potential NFL draft picks.  After Reading This aren't you more excited than ever about D3 football in general and Linfield football in particular?

Great press for the Cats....BE...and all of Division III football in today's USA Today. You can't buy this type of wonderful exposure for Linfield with photo and all...Go Cats reload in '06!

Thankfully that story passed through my eyes first, so we could get Jay "Losey" spelled correctly. :)

Well, I shouldn't take full credit for it. Keith McMillan was working that night and would have caught that as well. :)

I've heard the Wildcats will be getting in a very good transfer at the DE position.  Anyone else hear the same?

Swede:

My sources told me that's not the only GOOD transfer the cats will have this year. ;D  AZ the  Sunshine state will help too. Things are looking good in cat land for 06 .

I am off to the Harley River Run  in Laughlin with the twins, eat your heart out GHC..   ;)

Watched the opening of the draft on ESPN and was confused for a moment. Is this the nfl draft or a male modeling show? I thought these guys were football players, not fashion models. Give me a break!
Can't wait to get back to the Catdome and watch some real football.

I just heard this morning that Brian Noy (former Idaho QB behind Harrington will definetly be a Wildcat this next fall.
However, he may become a DB even though he could probably start for the other NWC schools with exception of Joel Clark.

LBC, after obviously trying yet again to find something, anything, to criticize - that is the best you can do? Of the hundreds of comments submitted on Post Patterns over the last month, you find nothing worth responding to, nothing "amusing" enough to address until I state the 'Cats are very hungry? Okay.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.
