Wildcat 11:

Thanks for the post with the sideline hit.  I was in the video and remember it first hand.  My guy ran a short slant pattern and took it off the shoulder pad ... the ball bounces up into the air, Chiu picks it off... running for an obvious touchdown.... While this is going on, i'm jogging running down the sidelines about 20 yards behind Chiu... I see #66 JOE SCHMELZER (LINEBACKER) who was PISSED because our offense had been tearing him up all game.... he didn't even have his chin strap on... takes one step off the sideline... Chiu is looking toward the middle of the field and obviously doesn't see him coming.  Gets de-cleated.... when you watch the video, you see the first official get knocked down, and the second official that was right in position to make the call... get worried about his white hat blowing off his head, so he takes his eyes off the play to make sure his hat stays on ....  #66 got kicked out of school for that and the football program folded shortly thereafter.

That was one of only a few times that I saw Rutschman so mad he came out of the box ... you see the fans parting as he runs down the stairs...down on the field... nostrils flaring and throwing around obsenities like "GOSH DANGIT, Son uva BUCK, by and large"

It tested one of my favorite analogies of his " Gentleman, it's a lot like a watch, if you're not wound tight enough, you're not gonna run.... but if you're wound TOO TIGHT (insert RUTSCHMAN writing X's and O's on the chalkboard in the GRAF so furiously that the chalk is blowing apart) then the watch is gonna break.... you can't be wound too tight!"   :o

Great post.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Would one of you "Local Cats", who happen by the Catdome, please go over and turn on the Webcam!  It's been off since the NCAA said it couldn't be on the second game of the playoffs.

Since the season is getting close it would nice to be able to turn on the Webcam and start getting "in the mood" for the start of the season!!!

I was in an early morning fog when I first read this post.  I did not see the author's name at first blush.  I didn't have to. I knew who wrote it. ;)  Just to let you know I have put in a few calls to the potential benefector for the live cam and he finally called me back this morning.  I had great concerns for his health but seems to be improving. Who knows but what there might be a live cam in the offing for all Wildcat home games.

Just a thought.  If you don't get the support from the locals you could always fly down about the first of the month, collect your Mac tenant's rent, write off the trip, jump the fence or disable the security system and turn it on yourself. :) What do you think?

Welcome dgd 8)
It will be interesting to see your new QB in action.

BTW I've heard that California high schools are trying to set up a complete state playoff system that goes beyond the Sectional championship and ends in a state championship....Anyone know the progress on that?

Yes it goes into effect this year. There will be a bowl game, north vs south in each division to determine the state champs...the state divisions are determined by school enrollment and size

OK....WHICH ONE OF YOU NORTHERN GUYS ARE TAKING MY KARMA POINTS AWAY?????

So how many games to the winner of the Sections to get to the North/South bowl game...and where are these bowl games going to be held?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

All teams play a 10 game schedule, the playoff consist of 4 game the last of which is the CIF championship game for that teams respective division(cif division)  then the selection process begins for hte state playoff, in order to qualify, you must be a CIF division winner, however the state divisions are classified differently than the CIF's so that in CIF  ou may be a division 1 team but for the state system, a division 3.

the states classification is based solely on size and population of ht school.  A teamfrom thenorth will play a team from the south.

Big night for McMinnville bred baseball players (hey, it's the football offseason).

Two McMinnville pitchers (one who played a season for the 'Cats) combined to shut out #1 ranked Rice 5-0 tonight in the college baseball world series. If they beat Rice again tomorrow, they advance to the best of three championship series against North Carolina.

Daniel Turpen, from McMinnville, was making only his second start of the season (the Beavers had used up their three regular starters already) against the series favorite and top ranked team in the country, Rice, who had won 39 of its last 42. He shut them down and was relieved in the 7th by his former prep teammate, Joe Paterson, who finished the job.

I wonder if the Beavers will have anything left in the tank and/or bullpen to eek out one more win in order to get a shot at winning the whole darn thing.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Ditto from me, Desertcat!
I hope he keeps the D coordinator duties, too.

I guess that means the supply of Friday night films will keep on coming!
Two words:  THE STREAK

Desert Cat,

Triple Mega Ditto from me as well DC.  Your Boy will do a great job and bring back future Championships to the Catdome.

Now comes the question:  Is DC going to spend the entire football season in Mac rather than just the playoffs?
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Brett's first football card is out, although the folks at Donruss apparently forgot about his 2004 season. From the card back: "Elliott was named the Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2005 and set Linfield records for yardage in a single game (528) and season (4,019). He also set the Linfield record with 49 touchdown tosses in 2005.
