NWC props....great comments about Willamette.  They indeed have had a difficult schedule to start off...we'll see how much they benefit from it.

Regarding UPS.....remember the suggested team slogan at the beginning of the season..."prove it".  Beating PP and CMS are expected victories.  The rubber hits the road in conference play for UPS this season to see how much actual improvement they have made.

Linfield Articles

Portland Tribune
Another Day in Football Paradise
By Dwight Jaynes

Excerpts:

--- Division III doesn't mean bush league. Linfield has state-of-the-art artificial turf and a scoreboard with a replay screen. It has a covered grandstand, and a loyal corps of boosters to fill all the seats. The setting is small town — "You can hear your buddies cheering for you," Elliott said — but don't be fooled.

Linfield tops in First AFCA poll

Note:

Linfield pulled in 34 of 40 first place votes.  The other 6 first place votes went to #2 Mount Union.

McMinnville's News-Register
Wildcats' defense stuffs Pointers
By Alan Moody

Excerpts:

---"Once we start clicking we feel that nobody can stop us at that point," said Linfield receiver Brad McKechnie, who led the 'Cats with nine receptions for 93 yards. "If we keep playing our game and everybody does their job to the best of their ability we feel that nothing can stop us except for ourselves."

---Linfield head coach Jay Locey said the story of the game was the Linfield defense, which held the Pointers to 179 total yards and intercepted three passes, with Josh Armstrong and Chris Boock having the other two picks.

"I thought our defense played awesome," he said. "Brandon Olson had a great game and Josh Ort, Chris Boock and Josh Armstrong played very good games."

WC11..........How was it getting out of bed this morning? I hope everyone had a great time and walked away unhurt!   ;D
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Pat...... Can you tell me who gets to vote in the AFCA poll?  Does it change each yr.?  And how are the coachs picked who get to  vote?  Thank you.

Some of the coaches change from year to year. I don't know who is on the list this year. And I couldn't possibly tell you what methodology the AFCA uses to pick its voters.

Linfield Alumni vs Linfield JV game article
[/b]

Alumni Strut their stuff

Excerpts:

---"It brings back memories," (2002 Grad and standout TE) Luke Buchheit said of donning the purple and white uniform one more time. "It was a fun deal. It's a real good situation, both for the old farts that come out and the young kids that get a look. It felt good."

---"It was indescribable to get to play another game at the Cat Dome," (2004 Standout Running Back, Thomas) Ford said. "You don't get many opportunities like that."

---Buchheit wasn't surprised that the JV team was able to keep things close.

"I think they've been working out for two months and we haven't had a practice yet," he said. "They're obviously going to be in better shape than we are. They're probably a little stronger and a little faster. We might be a little thicker."

------------------------------------------------------------
For me, it was an outstanding time last night.  I saw so many faces I know from the program over the years and to get to play with many of these guys for the first time was just worth any pain I'm in today.....well, I'll probably be in pain for a few days......

The young kids played great and I hope that all the alumni players enjoyed the experience.  I'll try to get some photo's linked up over the next week or so.

I've got a few photos online from the alumni game.  They're a little biased as I was mostly taking pictures for #14, but some other guys managed to sneak in as well.

Enjoy.

Wildcat, did you put the hammer down on the newbies?  :)

How's that Advil tasting today?  ;D

Hey, major props. It's not like you played a pickup softball game ... you put the pads on and battled some youngsters in their prime. Tough chore indeed. Are you playing in the next alumni game?

DT48,

Are you kidding???  T-Payne set up the Alumni team with a sweet 20 yard run to the 3 yard line that set up the game winning Field Goal by our boy Scott Cannon.

The best part is that Train came walking back to the sideline all fired up and yelled "I WANT TO WIN!".  It was top shelf on the classic scale!

Sperson,

Thanks for the pics!

Tuxguy

Catville Commissioner Elect

WC'64.

I will keep your best interests in mind of course.  Now though being an x great politician yourself up north I am sure you know that we always say what we mean and mean what we say.

I am trying to arrange an escort from MCM International, but having trouble setting up getting the limo through security.  The best I can do it make sure that when you get to the TG that your numerous fans and admirers don't get to close.

I will be inspecting the dome this week before I head down south to Beaver Nation and see if we can't work out a community partnership with LC.  If not, maybe I can call one of my higher up governmental contacts and say it was damaged in Katrina and get FEMA to subsidy the repair.  After all I heard we did have some Mississippi people in the stands that came to town for shelter and living in Memorial so that should qualify don't you think.

Also, you may want to lobby my fellow Council Person and great color commentator for the Cats.  Even though you are just out of his ward, neighbors are neighbors and he may be able to put in a good word also.   ;D
