Rockcat...

The answer to your question is yes.....but like a lot of things, details of the project is best left off of this board. This chat forum is for fan chat, not a news site. Too much stuff that should not be discussed makes its way here anyway.

I know that is a tough deal for Wildcat fans and alums who are out of town....I'm sure it is frustrating. But there have been a few too many liberties taken in the past by people who are too close to the program. While the cost of an facilities project is not as sensitive as say, an injury to a key player....the principle pretty much is the same.

My two bits....your mileage may vary ;)

Bean - I understand your concern regarding the discussion of players' injuries coaching changes etc., but most everything is speculation unless the trainer is a d3football.com poster.  Upgrades and the cost to make those upgrades hardly can be compared in any way to an injury to a key player.  I do not understand what the big deal is with talking about details about what could potentially make Linfield have the most impressive D3 football venue in the country(hard to get better).  Open discussion on this board could lead to suggestions to the powers that be at Linfield to go a certain direction with the upgrades, and maybe some influence.  I think it would be a healthy discussion, at the very least to generate some excitement when the request for some $$$ arrives via the Alumni Office.  Not trying to attack anyone, but I don't see the harm in it.

I think there may be a kernal of truth to what D-Train is saying. Even though the season will go on, and more than likely be a success, I wonder just what made Locey leave. Isn't he screwed if (when?) Reilly gets fired? Where does he go from there? I know that these questions have already been pondered on here, but I am still curious.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

A kernal might be about it, though. I'm not an inside source by any means, and probably shouldn't have spread rumors and rumblings that I've heard 3rd or 4th hand and can't confirm.

My Oh MY! That's like dangling cheese in front of a mouse.

I agree this is not the place, but you got my curiosity up now!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Oh yeah, I understand. I won't try and tie you to any rumor or innuendo. I was just wondering out-loud what the real reasoning was. I doubt anyone on here a) knows or b) would tell even if they did- at least not on a public forum.

It still seems to be a 2+2=5 situation for me though. I don't get it.

The reality of your discussion point is that the tradition of any school such as Linfield overrides coaching changes, player changes,  grades, SAT scores, injuries, grass to turf, weather or anything else.  50 winning seasons has at one time or another has delt with one or more of any of our discussion points.  Don't major in minors, boys, Our Cats will once again get it done, they are led by yet another Cat staff, deep in tradition, and a roster full of talent.  Not to mention the fanatic fans of the Catdome.

GHC,
      Good Point!
Now lets get to really important stuff like, Tailgating practice! ;D As I see it, These 6:00 games are going to take a little warm up practice to get ready. So let me know when the Longies are headed down I-5. ;)

With the NFL getting ready to open camp, I'm starting to feel the itch! :D

You got it, GHC.
Tradition trumps everything else.

I can get with the tailgating practice, too, Tuxguy. That sounds like a fine idea. Just like our boys have the 7 on 7, maybe we need a little warmup.

Words to live by, men.  In parenting, in business, in relationships....you name it.

The larger point is what Coco called tradition.  I'll point out that it just isn't "tradition"...it is the "attitude" behind it all.   Coco has summed it up with one word.

Linfield as an institution has changed greatly in the thirty years I've been around.   Linfield was a "hardscrapple" place with the worst facilities around.   Now, I'll submit that we have some of the best around.   I came to Linfield at the very end of "the Linfield plan", a financial gimmick to keep students at Linfield.  Something like that would be unheard of today.   The science building at Taylor Hall was an embarrassment in my first years at Linfield.....now we have some of the finest buildings around.

And yet, what hasn't changed....football.  Through four head coaches and countless staff and players, the hard work, the perseverance, the competitiveness.....it survives.   I'll always contend that Linfield is different from any other college its' size around and the soul of the College is exemplified by its' football program.

Anybody want to argue that?? ??? :D

Wildcat'64

Bean,

You're right on target.....The foundation is strong and has just gained in strength year after year.  Who would have thought in 1946, when Memorial Hall was constructed with a footall stadium on the backside (posts and all), that the posts would still be standing much to the shagrin of many a Wildcat fan?  It's going to take far more than a coaching and a few staff changes to shake up the foundation of this program.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

D O.C.

Let's see... and what goes up must come down... glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever...baby, even the rain must fall... victory goes to the player who makes the next-to-last mistake...all good things come to an end... if a man does his best, what else is there?...he not busy bein' born is busy dyin'...
I'm just saving these for the day The Streak comes to an end with an asterisk because some player is disqualified after the season or we just plain get beat a lot.
How you doin' out there George?

GHC, got up to the San Juans and it cooled off nicely. ;D

Rockcat, I'm back in the furnace that is my home a couple of hundred miles north of you.  :-\

While on San Juan Island, I saw a young man with a "PLU Baseball' shirt on. I said, "Lutes? Go Linfield Wildcats." He turned, gave a bit of a glare, then smiled and we had a nice talk about NWC sports.

Also on this trip I commented to a few OSU folks (they had shirts proclaming themselves Beavers) about how they had gotten themselves an awesome coach. Most all of them agreed! A couple had no Idea what I was talking about and just looked at me like I was an alien. Which I was being a Californian and all. :P

Beancounter,

"the soul of the College is exemplified by its' football program."

I have to disagree with you abit about that...I would revise that to...."the "heart" and soul of the College is exemplified by its football program."
Okay, okay....so I'm a nitpicker ;D
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Speaking of furnaces- 100+ the next 3-4 days in STL with 70% humidity. Wouldn't be too much fun to be one of the hundreds of NAIA or D3 footballers currently getting ready for 2-a-days.

You know the season needs to start when we are arguing about proving Linfield fandom...if you post on here, I would say you are probably a fan.
