Gig Harbor Cat

I saw that one Dee  actually I think the shirt said  PLU  Lutes  Cracked me up at the time.  Are you going to be ready for some tailgate action in a couple of weeks ?

To be fair, one doesn't really know if the suspect was really a PLU player....heck, anyone can get an EMAL t-shirt.......

And on the same thread, the suspects were not holding hands when they were being led out of the house either   ;D

Even if he was a PLU player at one time, I'd be surprized if he was on the team at the time of the clip and I doubt he was on the team for more than a year or two anyway. My football class started with around 35 guys and was down to 15 within a few years. Of the 'other' 20, a good 10-12 weren't ever going to be Frosty's type of guy on or off the field.

I look at it this way...if in fact the guy being pulled out the house on Cops was a Lute...does that give us the right to call Demi Moore a Cat after Indecent Proposal.  I certainly hope so!!!!

In case other season tix holders are wondering their options now that the Alums v. JV II game is the official Lewis and Clark replacement, according to the Linfield football website here they are:

Season ticket holders can:
•Keep their Lewis & Clark game tickets and use them for the Junior Varsity-Alumni game on Nov. 5;
•Return their tickets and receive a full refund on the purchase price of the tickets;
•Return their Lewis & Clark tickets and donate the purchase price of the tickets to Linfield in support of intercollegiate athletics.

You'll be getting something in the mail and have to respond by Oct. 25.

With apologies to the vaunted Cat alum players on this board, I think option 2 is my preferred choice, then I can apply the refund to buying playoff tix. Just don't think Alums v. JV is worth 12 bones per seat.

??? Are you kidding me?  I realize the Eastern Wash and WOU scores were similar but let's stop snorting the lines off our mouse pads and wake up.  What is in your coffee.  Montana, Eastern Wash, Idaho St, Montana St., NAU would kick the Sh*# out of Linfield.  Not even a joke.  Now thats not to say that if a D3 had to play a powerhouse like Montana that I wouldn't choose Linfield to play them but let's get real.  How pumped up do you think Eastern got for the game after watching a D2 get destroyed by a D3 on film all week.  Obviously they could of cared less and they got a lot of young kids some valuable playing time.  As far as playing Carroll College, that would be a great game this season...Carrolls O is awesome and the QB has over 10,000 yards and 102 touchdowns.  Also POY in NAIA as a soph plus 3 straight National Champs.  24 full rides goes a long ways.  I think the Cats would win by 10 but if played next season Carroll by 20.

As far as the posts on scheduling:
Linfield does a nice job and plays a tough schedule every year, those Wisconsin schools are 10,000 kids and get a lot of ballers in.
Willamette arguably plays one of the tougher schedules in the country and maybe that helps and maybe it hurts, last season it helped them get to the playoffs and this year they may be buried. But they will beat Menlo UPS PLU and WHIT. Why, Because tough comp pays off later on and WHIT can't stop the Deaf and Blind Offense from scoring 50
Whitworth Decent schedule pretty good talent and pushing for #2 in Conf
PLU always a good team and they play one Wisc School
UPS Sciac North Champs the Bill Snyder KSTATE rebuild schedule play all terrible teams inflate your record and start to recruit the heck out of some good players.  All good things until you see the offense, the BUC series and the "were gonna get positive yards every play" doesn't sell oh and your not good at  tackle football
As is everyone is in a sprint for the bridesmaid position and hope to make the playoffs.  If you look at records and I know you all do, Lin will be top ranked undefeated going in.
AS for the second NWC team
I am sure all of your money is on Whit or UPS but if they look solely at West Region Record then WU could go at 5-4 by beating 4 D3 west regions and losing to 1 in Linfield.  They have been told that there non conf will not count against them.

Um, was that LilDarkSpec or FattieHarvest?

It would be interesting to see the reation if Willamette goes 4-1 in 'regional' D-3 games with a 5-4 (or even 4-5 if they trip vs. SOU) overall record. The selection committee has tended to ignore a few loses before. But just how far does that go?

But why don't we hold on this conversation until Willamette wins a game?

DarkHarvest

???  Not sure what your talking about but I am guessing you think I am Speckman... I am a bigtime D3 fan and new to the area, sorry if I offended anyone just trying to spark some talk thats all, I have met some of the coaches from all of the schools and just throwing out my two cents if that is okay.

I am from Montana, so I know a little about Carroll and the Big Sky also. EWU had a 570-215 yard total offense difference in the WOU game. I'm sure they were looking ahead to the Idaho State game this weekend.

Carroll-Linfield would have been a great game the past several years, as they are two of the top programs not only in the West, but the nation. Carroll's offense is pretty good, but it's defense is even better. I played baseball with Emmert, their QB, and against him in football. He's been reading defenses and making audibles since 6th grade. He's also only lost 3 games (all @ Carroll), since his Freshman year of High School. That includes 3 State Championships and 3 National Championships. He also won the State Legion Baseball Title his senior year (no HS baseball in Montana). Elliott has more talent than Emmert, but Emmert is one of the smartest athletes I've played with or against, and all he does is win.

I couldn't say who'd win between the two schools, but it'd be a great matchup if it would have happened.

No worries Harvest - you haven't done a thing to offend. I'm glad to have you aboard to break up the Wildcat chatter.

Carroll was my second choice back in the day. They've really stepped it up since then. I'm guessing that Linfield would be a touch better with Elliott at the helm, but Carroll would have won the two years before that (and probably would win next year).

GHC...I forgot to tell you that my belly is about twice  the size it used to be also.... :-*

Wildcat11...can't wait for the game...what's the word on the semi-pro team you are rounding up for summer league next year? I used to go up to Portland now and again and watch some of the teams play. You guys would be playoff caliber. There were several Linfield guys that I'd watch on the Thunderbolts when they were good a few years back. One was an O-Line guy. He only had one eyeball but he still knocked people on their butt.

UPS is not good at "tackle football?" Sure, they're no Linfield or Mount Union, but they've improved a lot in the past few years. Between 2001 and 2003 UPS lost to Linfield by a combined score of 172-0. Last year it was only 35-16. PLU has beaten UPS every year since 1988, but UPS was either a yard short or even a made extra point in regulation from winning last season. Willamette only beat UPS 21-19 last year, and UPS had a chance of forcing overtime in the closing seconds but missed their 2 point conversion.

As far as their schedule, who else is UPS going to play? They want to play "like-minded schools." Sure they are playing WOU, but that's more out of neccessity. The coaches had to fight w/ the school to get a second "plane" trip to Menlo in '03 and Colorado College in '04. There had been plans to go to the Midwest but they weren't able to pull anything off due to their budget. The coaching staff has fought for a bigger budget, but it's tough, just like it is for any other program. From where the program was a few years ago, UPS has improved greatly. Now only if they could get Field Turf, especially on their practice field. They easily have one of the worst practice fields in the West. If you thought the "Old Baker" field was bad, then you have no idea about Lower Baker's field. It makes the Old turf seem like the Pine Bowl.

DarkHarvest-

If you'd bothered to check the stats from that EW/WOU game you'd have seen that their starting QB (Meyer) and receiver (Kimble) connected for a TD in the fourth quarter, so the whole "I bet a lot of young guys got playing time" line is a load of Eastern Washington cow crap. EW starters played as much of the game against WOU as Linfield's did. In fact, both Meyer (EW) and Elliott (Linfield) played only one offensive possession in the fourth quarter, both leading their teams to TDs.

So let's just look at the first three quarters, when we know both EW and Linfield were playing their starters on offense. It was Linfield 36, WOU 7 after three in Monmouth...and EW 27, WOU 7 in Cheney.

And let's assume for a moment that WOU didn't play their scrubs on defense, but left their first team D in against both starting offenses. Wonder how Elliott stacked up against WOU versus Meyer?

Meyer: 22-34, 366 yds and 3 TDs

Elliott: 25-37, 361 yds and 6 TDs

I can't refute the "they couldn't care less" excuse, however, because my special mind reading abilities aren't working very sharply this late in the evening. If your's are sharper, you might have me on that one.

Dr. Sparky

Forgot to mention that Kimble is an All American and Meyer is a Payton Award finalist, so yeah, maybe you are right, they could "care less" about a game, any game, against any opponent. I am sure they were just playing half speed.
