This is scary, beancounter...we're in agreement on more and more.  You just have more tolerance for kickers!   ;)

I was thinking the exact same thing.  Barring disaster, the chargers don't plan on playing him in a game this season so they really have no need to see him in the preseason.  They are trying to get guys that could potentially see action during the season coached up and experienced in game situations.  I'd love to see him get a shot too, but he's going to have to wait his turn.  Right or wrong the Chargers are going to put the guys they have millions of dollars invested in on the field first.

By the way, I thought Feeley looked decent enough to avoid having SD search for a vet.  Anybody they can find at this point won't be much better than him, you think?  I guess unless somebody cuts a vet late...

I agree on Feeley- he is what he is- a suitable backup qb. He makes nice living off of it.

Anyway, any thoughts on wou-willamette? I get the generally feeling that people think wou will beat them soundly. If so, what does it mean for Linfield?
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Perhaps the Chargers don't want to get Elliott on tape so they can stash him on their practice squad without any other offers.

RedandPurple,

Thanks for some of the Chargers, play by play for those of us who did not see the game.
It would be great to see Elliott play but I hope he has some great receivers to throw the ball to. Part of his greatness at Linfield was the All American wide receivers he had to throw to. Before Elliott the old QB touchdown NCAA passing record held by Willie Totten at Missippi Valley State in the early 80's was impressive, but then you remember his wide receiver was Jerry Rice.  Have you ever heard of Willie Totten after that?

The highly touted #1 draft pick Alex Smith had a horrible year with the 49ers last year, I would think largely because he had poor receivers.

Without excellent receivers how can a great passing QB showcase his talent?

I am sure getting psyched about the reports I am getting on the this year's Wildcat team.  It sure looks like we could have a pretty darn strong team again this year.  I'm afraid the last 2 years may have spoiled us forever though with the strong offensive game we put together week after week.

CamCat:
You're welcome for the updates. I agree with your comments about the QB-Receiver situation. Can't wait for Saturday 9/9/06 to get here. GO 'CATS!

FYI  From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
Willie Totten is the head coach of the Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils football team, a job he has held since 2001. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
He is one of the few coaches ever to coach in a stadium named after him. His team plays in Rice-Totten Field, named for him and legendary NFL wide receiver Jerry Rice. Totten was Rice's quarterback at MVSU, and with Rice as his target, Totten set more than 50 Division I-AA passing records. His team scored a stunning 59 points a game, and in one year he threw for a record 58 touchdowns.
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Thanks for the Willie Totten info. I knew he was the coach but was not aware the stadium was named for him and Jerry Rice. One correction, I believe Willie's best year was 56 touchdowns and not 58 which means Elliott broke it by 5.  Anyone with access to the record book can look this up. 59 points a game average.  That's incredible.

Would that mean Green Bay? So if he doesn't play for awhile what chance do they have of getting him in a trade? How would anyone in Green Bay know anything about him?
Elliott does have a Linfield connection with the Chargers that probably was totally responsible for his being offered a contract.

CamCat....all I can say is that they are aware of him and like what they either have seen or know, and yes that is Green Bay.

I dont know if they will try to pick him up, what they would do with him or if they even will try, all I can say, all that I know, is that they are aware of him and like what they see.  That I know for sure, anything else would simply be speculation on my part.

swede

Except for Brett Farve I don't know much about Green Bay but I did check there QB roster. You guys want to check those guys and see what ya think?

Regardless of what happens to Brett at SD I think he'll still be around.

Remember....all I said is that they know who he is and like him....I know nothing after that....I dont want to start an unfounded  rumor.

I was just trying to let the Linfield faithful, all 12,378,999 of you guys know that his NFL future isnt limited to what  SD does and that Pat makes a very good point. :)

Why do some of you guys have do be so rational?  Don't you all know that sometimes....maybe sometimes....well maybe...2+2 doesn't always equal 5....does it?...... :o :o
