I've got a connection between the Packers and Elliot.  Granted, it's not a Linfield connection, more of an Oregon connection.  The key puzzle piece is former Packer, Ryan Longwell.  Longwell, a native of Bend, must have given the Packers a favorable impression of the Northwest.  The Packers also have linebacker Nick Barnett, from Oregon State.  And, if you think about it, Elliot and Favre are pretty similar.  Just thinking........

I wanted to at least point out that fbgcat did correctly say that Longwell is a "former packer".  Nonetheless, I think everybody is going a little crazy with the whole Green Bay discussion.  If BE went there he'd still be behind Farve, a first round QB from last year and a 5th round drafted QB from this year.  Doesn't sound much different than his current situation...except the weather wouldn't be as nice.

One thing you must understand is that there are few if any secrets in the NFL.  I am sure every team knew of Elliot.  I really think Pat has hit it on the head.  SD took the chance and now they dont want anyone to know how good he really is so that they can keep him on the practice squad and let him develope and see what happens rather than lose him to another team.  That maybe why he isnt getting any pt.  Just my opinion, and it isnt worth that much.  I will be talking to my buddy at GB next week I will try to see if I can get more info that I can provide. 

By the way when I talked to him last, I brought the subject of Elliot up and he started the converstion.

Let me get this straight- the chargers are "hiding" Elliott because they are aware (as is the entire NFL) that he could be a Green Bay Packer, partially because Ryan Longwell (longitme NFL punter) is from bend and therefore has given the people of Wisconsin a favorable view of division 3 qb's from lake Oswego? Hmmmmmm.

That is really stretching it...I never said he might become a GB Packer.  All I said was that they like him. Nothing more.  The connections drawn were speculation by the board.  All I said was that....."they liked him".  

Pat had the idea that SD might want to keep him for their practice squad and if SD plays him and he does well someone else might try to pick him up.  More than one player in the NFL started by being on the practice squad and working his way up.  Apparently Elliot is pretty good to even be where he is at currently.
