Elliott should not count his money until he receives it. The practice squad is week-to-week.

My congrats to Brett and his "hurdle jumping."  This, I believe, was a big one.  He just needs more time to continue developing and show what he can do and it looks like they want to give him that. I was happy to see that he maintains free agent status while on the PS.  The more SD continues to let him hang around, the more he may peak the interest of other teams as well.  :)

Frank is correct about the week to week pay for pratice squad but I don't see SD cutting their only Practice Squad QB especially right now while they only have 2 QBs on their official roster.

Glad to see the research being done on things like the salary of a practice roster player.....sounds like Brett ought to have enough money to pay the rent, even at San Diego real estate prices... :D

All this talk about ejections and WOU brings up a trivia question for y'all.....when was the last time a Linfield player was ejected from a game?    Just to test the memories of old timers like Tuxguy, Bluenote, Topcat and others.....and please, just give the year and not the player.

Was It a DB who wore #7 that came out of  MciMinnville Hogh school? He had a brother who played BB at Linfield and a sister who played volleyball somewhere in eastern Washington.

Monrovia: Of course San Diego has the right to add other QBs to the general roster or the practice squad. That type of activity is not uncommom during the week before the first regular season game when cuts by teams tend to have a domino effect.

Stats for the WOU--WU game can be found here:  http://www.wouwolves.com/fb/stats/2006-07/WOU01.HTM#GAME.DRV

Looks like WOU ran the ball all over WU and mixed in the pass some too.  4 turnovers certainly helped them as well.  Anybody see the game?  Would love to here some insight.

Well, well, look who crawled out of the woodwork.
I'll rephrase the oft asked question in your absence, Bluenote, are you going to be wailing at the home games?

'Cats trapped in the smog...anyone want to meet me at the Sept. 9th Whitworth @ Redlands game?

I might be there.  It will be a game time decision.  I have to weigh whether driving to hackin Redlands is worth the hassle! :)

Catville Commissioner Elect

Bluenote,

Welcome Back!   Your computer in for repair?  Now that is one that we haven't  heard before.  I hope you took it to someone that is a Cats fan.  If not it may come back with the bearkitten or wolfbyte virus.

I didn't have a chance to see the WOU/Willamette game, but according to my neighbor who was there, his comments were exactly the same as yours.  WOU is quick and can mix the pass, but he also said that the Bearkitten defense was so bad up front and in the middle that it was really hard to tell.  Sounds like the D was back peddling most the time.  Put this with a raw offense and a QB that is running scared and it can make things look a little different.  I guess we will see this weekend when the wolvettes get up against the Cats D at the dome.  It may elevate WOU though as given their said grid iron, playing at the Dome would be like the Bearkittens playing at South Bend.

In all honesty, I expect a very good and entertaining game.  Where else can you see a great football team dressed in purple playing against the antics of the wolvettes.  Sounds like the WWE against the ECW  WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hmm... Maybe this might open a roster spot for Bret...

"San Diego Chargers Linebacker Scott Foley Shot by Off-Duty Police Officer"

Okay, tongue in cheek there but this high class player was arrested previously back in April for DUI and resisting arrest.

I can't stand how the NFL allows these things. They do this sort of thing because they know they can get away with it. If I were commissioner, I'd have a one-and-done policy. These guys ought to know they're idolized and by that they should be held to a higher standard. How many Ricky Williams do there need to be?
{Clever sign-off goes here.}

Tuxguy

topcat1,

It's my fault bluenote has been a-wall for so long. We took one of our road trips together and got separated. I was able to find my way home with the use of the bread crumbs we had left along the way.   ;) Sorry blue! Forgot I wasn't suppose to eat them!  ;D
I look forward to this Saturday, can finally get My Wildcat Football fix!
See you all at the Tailgater, Hawaiian Beef sticks are on menu as always!!!   8)
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

I was in San Diego over the weekend and heard Schottenheimer on the local TV news talking about the number of quality players come out of real small colleges.  He said it takes a little while to get them up to the speed of the game but that the small programs have good players that go unseen.  I thought what he said was interesting...

'Cats Fa Natic,

My thoughts exactly. The NFL should be ashamed for putting up with this behavior. Those guys have a sense of entitlement that they don't have to follow the same rules as the rest of us because they are pros. I don't even ask that players be held to a higher standard. I'd just like them to have to obey the same laws that the rest of us do, and not get a pass on stuff like this.

There was an owner of a team back east a few years ago who didn't tolerate any of this. Does anyone remember who that was? Maybe I can find it.

I had the same thought as 'Cats Fa Natic, but then it wouldn't make sense to replace a linebacker with a QB on the roster.

I also agree 100% with Fa Natic and coco about professional atheletes and the leeway they are given in their transgressions. That is probably why I don't follow pro sports much.

Anyone have any Idea what I will see Saturday with SOU at Menlo. Menlo looked decent against McMurry. Does anyone know what SOU brings to the table? Thank goodness for the 6p.m. Linfield start. Noon in the bay area and home to catch the Cats on the internet.

MonroviaCat

Well, SOU lost 9-3 against EU this past week.  Neither of them are ranked in the NAIA top25 but EU had some votes while SOU had none.  If the scores for this game and Menlo's game are any indication it looks to be a defensive battle but of course that is based primarily on the scores of the respective games and a very quick look at the stats.  Historically, I don't think either team has been known for defense, right????
