Thanks 11,
It always helps to have insider information ;D.  From what I read on the other boards the Lutes are looking like Air-Stash this year.  As usual we say to throw out the records, but after seeing the Cats in action I have to believe that the Cat O will open it up on PLU  early and often.  As I said last week, I am REALLY impressed with the Cat  Salty D.  I know Coach Smith has to be having a ball working with this group.

I'm staying with my +31 this week.  the only change that I might make is to make it a +31 AT THE HALF !!!!

Gotta love Lute week.  Hope some of our Lute tailgaters make it down for some Pre-game action.  D-Train and the boys will be there for sure.

My attendence is still in question, but I can't let D-train suffer through this alone.   The fire and ice has been asking for a little action.   What is the story with tickets.  Being from the visiting side of things, do I need to worry about day of game tickets.....

Thanks for the memories Desert... KLOOP is still in full effect.   The law suit brought forward by Bluenote almost killed the organization all together....   8)

Wyd,
Tickets are never a problem, we usually send a runner from the tailgate when the booth opens up, that way we can concentrate on the tailgate action :o.  We will be at the south parking lot past the Catdome.  Look for the motorhome at the end of the street,  we are easy to find.  Dust off the fire and ice-  see you there

Rumor out is PLU has added Southern Oregon to this year' schedule and the game will be played at either Hillsboro Stadium or Lewis & Clark. Interesting.

Rumor was posted as actual fact Friday night in Notables and I even linked to it from this message board for the people who don't read the front page.

I read the front page, but on Friday night I was traveling 300 miles by car, by Saturday I was out and about getting ready to watch football. By Sunday I was traveling 300 miles south ... but thanks for the head's up anyway.

Sorry folks, won't make it for my second annual PLU Linfield showdown but hope to be out there for a playoff game.  Good luck this weekend to both teams--especially PLU :)

Linfield and Hardin Simmons.  Now that is a prime regular season game.

No one will accuse the NWC of shying away from big regular season games.

OAS,
Whats your take on SJU this year? Will they make it as far as the Catdome or not.

I would say no based on how they've played so far.  Lots of turnovers and their competition has been pretty weak so there hasn't been a good measuring stick.

Their D is pretty solid but I'm not convinced Koefed is mature enough to get them to the CatDome.

Time will tell.

How would you ex/coaches in the high school ranks liked to have had to schedule Helix High, San Diego for a couple of years?
From the S.D. Union Tribune Dec. 11, 2004:
"Never in the Heisman Trophy's 70-year history have two finalists been former teammates on the same high school team. (Reggie) Bush, of Spring Valley, and (Alex) Smith, of Bonita, were teammates in 2000 and 2001 when Helix won CIF – San Diego Section Division II championships."
They didn't win the state? Guess they didn't have an All-American treceiver.

I am not a California HS football expert, but I believe the state does not have a state championship in the traditional sense.

Pat,
In California the best you can do is Section Championship, in your division. A Section is usually made up of anywhere from 2 two 4 leagues.  The only exception is basketball where a state champ is crowned each year.

  GO CATS...

Lutes going down again...

I was thinking along the same line. May rain so I'll take the cats 39-21. Those lutes always scare me. They definetly has some big guns (QB 49-80 for 683 yards and 6 td's with only a couple picks. Also a kid named Chiado at wr 17 nabs for 300 yards and a couple TD's. Lutes have a nice 39 year winning streak going and hate to see it end but just don't want to see th D get it together this week.

Pat & GHC are correct. There is no state championship in CA. The CIF (the governing body for sports) is working on it though. I believe the Northern sections have voted for it.
