Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

It's about 2 pm here in Abilene. The temp is about 90 degrees and the humidity is not too bad. There clouds (at the moment) are mostly high cirrus (sp) clouds. Dave Hansen and I took a trip around town this morning...ended up at the Hardin-Simmons campus. A very pretty campus with many similarities to Linfield. Being Texas there is LOTS of green space everywhere, but like Linfield, there is a common architectural theme to all buildings. They are faced with sandy-colored brick with many, many live oak trees all over campus. Significant programs include nursing and business, much like Linfield.

We talked to a campus cop who told us it would be the Southern Baptists tonight versus the American Baptists.

The team has been reviewing film and doing the usual "parking lot walk-thru" of plays and schemes. Team appears to be serious and attentive. A few minutes ago they left to go to the pregame meal.

Shelton Stadium (on campus) is a fine facility and has a natural grass turf in good condition. The bleachers on both sides of the field look a lot like the baseball stands at Linfield...only much bigger to accomodate football. Nice large pressbox atop the Home-side bleachers. There is also a smaller pressbox-type building atop the Visitor-side bleachers. I'm not sure, but this may be the Visitor's coaching box. It's height and sight lines are roughly equivalent to the Home-side facilities. On the other hand, the Visitor-side facilities may be for film crews.

It's a great day for football, "Let's play two!!"

Welcome, OldCatProf.
You and I remember the same old days.

Thanks for the updates on Abilene and the 'Cats.

Yes. Welcome, OldCatProf.

Hey! Wait aminute...
How do we know he's not a trickster from St. John's trying to set us up come playoff time.

Better put him through the wringers:

       OK OldCatProf

       Who is buried on campus?
                             and where?

Steve Thomas is significant in LINFIELD lore, why?
                                                     :)

OldCatProf

Oh DensLA, ye of little faith.

Let's see now, me thinks ye refereth to a former president and a certain spot outside the corner of the President's office. Some of the overheated Linfield brethern would have buried a second Linfield president in roughly the same spot, had they the chance.

Oh yes, is there a more loved alum and long term contributor to the beauty of the Linfield campus (often single-handedly, it seemed) than our old friend whose "named-after" garden adorns the area near Campbell Hall?

Now, please fold up your chair...it's going to be a Linfield win!!!

Ha ha!

Great answers, CatProf. Yeah, if it had been legal, that guy would have been six feet under.

Those were good questions, DenS. No imposter could answer those.

Here's an additional trivia question. What is the son of the campus beautician doing now?

In 2 hours Dean Hansen will be on the air. Aune won't be with him today, according to the local paper.

Cat Fa Natic,

Go to the Linfield Sports Website...then select Football....on the left hand side of the screen you will see Statistics as one of the topics.  This area has all current year stats!

GOCATS ---  IT'S GAME DAY!!!

Thanks, '64, I appreciate it. 'Cept what I was looking for was last year's stats, not this year's.

???

Rumor has it that the ever-loquacious and silver-tongued Scott Carnahan will provide the lively and insightful commentary tonight as Dave hansen slides over to the play-by-play chair.

Last post before game time... I think this is going to be a tough one, no doubt about it. My gut tells me special teams and turnovers will be key. Going in, HS has the edge with their senior field goal kicker, but our return team may give us the field position we need.

Unless either team can steal the thunder early, I think this'll be a low scorer. Hopefully, no Texas snowball.

I'll take the Cats in a battle between the 20 yard lines, 16-14.

Look for a late turnover by HS to be the different maker.

Stay in your lane, trust the guy beside you.

Any score updates from other games in the NWC?  I tried to get on some broadcasts but my computer is only loving Quicktime today and won't let me listen to any of the Microsoft Mediaplayer broadcasts....
Go Cats!

I hear he's doing 10 to 20, hard time.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

1. It's about an hour to game time. Both teams are on the field doing exercises and stretching. Why is it that everytime I go a Linfield game it always appears that the other team is much bigger?

2. Nice to see a goodly compliment of fans here already. Have chatted with the Family Ackerman (Banks), the Family Horning (Arizona), Jack Ford, and Don Hicks.

3. The waterboys are here (watermen?) as is Mac Farag.

4.  The weather has turned breezy. Rather significant gusts over the last hour or so. If this coninues we may need to suit up Marco Min to throw some of those curve balls he last launched in Seguin, Texas many years ago in a forgettable playoff game. The sky has turned overcast and it's beginning to feel a little like rain.
