Tux Guy:

As a Dodgers fan (which I've been all my life) I think we have to be happy that they managed to even make the playoffs.  I think going into the season there was very little optimism about the team.  They kept their young guys and will be strong in years to come because of it :)  Oh wait, this is a football website....
Go Cats!    ::)  ;D  :D  ;)  :)  :o  8)

Wishing the Cats a great game and a wonderful family weekend.  Sean, lead the O-Line in protecting the QB--rats, I think Gig Harbor Cat had a catchier name for him besides the beauty thing, maybe it was Tuxguy.  But as I have to get up in 5 hours to get on the bus to North Carolina for my game  :( (I so hate mornings!!) I don't have time to look it up.  Hope all wear their Linfield power good luck charms and rub their lucky stones.  I will have my Linfield one on and my purple stone with me on one arm and my BC stuff on the other.  Enjoy the longies for me.  I'll take an extra round of communion for you all at our tailgate in NC!

GO CATS!! BEAT SOUTHERN OREGON!  BELIEVE!  ONE GAME AT A TIME RIGHT TO SALEM!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

I know I am eagerly anticipating the outcome of the Becker-Hartwick game.

See y'all on line.

Gee, I'm surprised you noticed. I would've figured you'd just stop reading after keeping score as to whether Linfield was mentioned.

I could not miss that!

Linfield 38 - SOU 20 - APU isn't as bad as they played last saturday.  It sounds to me like they haven't been very productive offensively but i think they hold linfield under 40 points (barely).

Willamette 35 - UPS 21 - Willamette has the better passing game and a better coaching staff (IMO).  The defenses based on common opponents are eqaul, the team who can move down field at the end of the game will win (and I still don't buy that UPS can do that).  Plus I want to see with what kind of BS the UPS coach gives us after another conference loss.

Whitworth 52 - L&C 14 - Whitworth doesn't score on their first 10 possesions like last time these two met but the subs still get plenty of PT as the RATS role.  This should also be a great chance for the banged up O-line to get better as a unit without the injured jon erlenmeyer.

Menlo 35 - PLU 31 - PLU's QB is too inaccurate to win this ballgame.  Consensus seems to be that this will be a shootout and the reason my score isn't higher is because I think these two teams are prone to make mistakes that prevent them from putting up 40-50 pts in this game.  PLU's relentless D and man to man coverage will hurt them as Menlo gets their second NWC victory and already begins to worry about the RATS who travel to atherton next week to play Menlo on the best playing surface in the NWC.

Sorry, that doesnt make much sense.  Let me try again

Linfield 38 - SOU 20 - APU isn't as bad as they played last saturday.  It sounds to me like SOU's hasn't been very productive offensively but they forced some turnovers against APU and i think they hold linfield under 40 points (barely).

and one more thing, read this on the midwest conference board...it made me laugh.

Haven't been here in awhile but I saw a couple of weeks ago that Elliott was released from SD. Just curious if he was picked up again or has someone else given him a shot.

Any news from that "inside source" who was on here a few weeks ago that claimed that if S.D. ever let go of Elliot that Green Bay was poised to snap him up?

(509)Rat....I take it the comment about the best playing surface is a joke? Or did something change at menlo. I heard it was the worst facility in the conference.  ???

I can't speak for others but when I come up with my scores I look at the respective offenses, defenses and how the teams have scored againts common opponents and/or similar types of oponents.  Then I add points to the Cats because I'm totally biased!

Yeah, I do mostly the same thing. If I have a lot of time on my hands or it's a big game, I'll dig through stats and writeups for anomalies that might skew things.

Here's what my dartboard came up with...

Pacific Lutheran @ Menlo... Menlo's still in it's teething stage in the NWC but I think they'll top PLU in this one, unless Menlo shoots itself in the foot. The common opponent here is Chapman, who is 2-2, which barely lost to Menlo 24-27 but then dominated PLU 42-25. The dart says 38-20.

Lewis & Clark @ Whitworth... I suppose one could say this is the kind of game Whitworth could look past and get surprised. But we're talking L&C, which isn't even proving to be much of a speed bump to anyone this year with 10 points being the closest margin of victory of any of their losses. Still, they did put up 28 on Menlo so in theory they could pull out the surprise of the year but it's a theory that draws on the same line of consciousness that says in theory a UFO piloted by Bigfoot could land on the Whitehouse lawn. I'm not a L&C believer but the dart gives them 7 in a 35-7 loss.

Puget Sound @ Willamette... One of the more interesting games of the week in MO. UPS is still battling to prove they're a program on the rise and Willamette is battling for any level of respectabilty. After two embarassing losses to open the season, a slight improvement against Cal Lu, they finally seemed to get on track against Menlo with a win, only to be completely derailed by the Cat bullet train. Dart says the Loggers have a chip on their shoulder and kick sand in the face of the Kitty cats (in their own litterbox no less) and humble the kitties by 42-10.

Southern Oregon @ Linfield...  I still have memories of gripping the laptop in 2003 when I was back East on business listening on the 'net to the Cats battle it out down South (winning by 47-42). That was such a great game, that it eclipses the the more recent battles, which we won handily at 56-34 and 49-14. Prior to that '03 game they played us tough in '00 (we won 23-11) and in '02 (winning 42-35) and blanked us in '01, 29-0. But the past is the past and SOU seems to be on the slide this year. They deserved to lose to the Menlo Oaks, after not scoring any offensive TDs and escaping on a KO return for a TD with 27 seconds left. They lost 3-9 to Eastern Oregon, and were destroyed by our common opponent, the WOU Wolves by 38-0. They did regain a measure of respectabily against APU with a 57-7 win. The Cats should be able to harass a Fr. QB and as long as the Cats wrap up and FINISH the tackle, the dart says we'll coast to a comfortable 35-7 win.

Go Cats!

wow- i never thought I would type this, but I am watching whitewater v lacrosse on my computer. The production by the Whitewater tv station is really good- replays, close-ups, crowd shots, graphics. I am impressed.

7-0 WW, but LAX is driving.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Lewis and Clark and Whitworth...
anyone out there listening to the L&C Windows MP site?
Keeps breaking up. I refuse to download Real Player...again.

Whitworth 21-3 end of the first.

It may be in the works but an in depth article on the courageous Lewis and Clark team might be worth an effort.

Guess I'll check the Greenville-Eureka score right now.

Final score:  Rats 70-Pios 3

Rats run for 276 yds and Pass for 214-  Clark throws 3 TDs and runs for 1 as well. Backup QB has a TD pass as well.  Rats only punt once, end one drive on fumble and two on downs at the L&C 16 and 26.  Ended the game with the ball as well!
Both teams lose one fumble but the Pios QB throws 5 INTs (2 returned for TDs) and L&C is held to only 176 yds offense.  Suprisingly, only one sac by the Rats (I guess the L&C QB threw the ball to the Rats before they had a chance to hit him).

Ouch!

I hate to see the Pios take a beatdown like that, but with Whitworth, there's probably no stopping it.  I give L&C credit for continuing football and I wish they could pick up a win somewhere.
Two words:  THE STREAK

MonroviaCat

PLU 34 Menlo 10:
PLU throws 1 INT but Menlo throws 3
PLU gains 364 yds vs. Menlos 124
Lutes get sacked 3 times but Menlo gets sacked 7 times!
A sign of the change in the Lute program though:  10 penalities for 80 yds.  That doesn't sound like PLU to me....(and I'm a Cat fan).

Go Cats!
